I don't normally fond of fashion film as they tend to don't make sense and it's only the designer's ego to make one.
I mean, clothes are just clothes okay. Beautifully photograph pictures are enough to provoke an emotion or to understand the designer's vision. Now they are abusing the moving pictures too for their visionary quest. If it has an interesting plot, I'm all eyes, but if it's just a cul-de-sac and highly conceptualized films somewhat referred to as "edgy" and very artistic, then sorry you lost me.
When I was still a fashion student, I am one of the pretentious one who think higly of fashion. But then real world caught up with me and the artistic is just not fun anymore. Long gone are my fascination with highbrow, conceptualized arts. In fact, girly imagery and nostalgia romances capture me more. Sophia Coppola's "The Virgin Suicide" is one example of movie that I like. Hence my fascination with Mori girls, Zooey Deschanel etc etc. Fun, fluid and playful is the keyword. Humour also works.
Take for example this fashion film "Pringle of Scotland" by David Shrigley. It is humorous, gives details about the company's history and core product (albeit no actual garment physically appeared on the animated movie) and playful.

Another example would be this short film of a fake perfume commercial directed by Roman Polanski, starring Natalie Portman (!) and Michelle Williams. I would certainly like to see that kind of humour on a real perfume commercial, because sometimes it is so true.
