Today started off simple enough. I woke up before everyone and made great use of my time by doing nothing at all. Soon Vikki and Rain awoke and a 1hr Guitar Hero Metallica session was brought. It's clear to me now just how much of an improvement the Guitar Hero franchise has made since the PS2 days. Rock Band has its advantages still, but in a side-by-side comparison of the Rock Band games and instruments to the Guitar Hero World Tour equivalents, it's really down to preferences, with Guitar Hero winning big by being able to utilize the Rock Band guitars. Speaking of which I am continually kicking myself for forgetting my modified Rock Band guitar in Florida. I've been tempted to ask Rick or John to ship it here, but I think it can wait until Thanksgiving or Christmas when I drive down to visit.
After thoroughly rocking out, we three headed to Panda Express for lunch. The Equinox is still smoking, but only after fully warming up, and the smoke is thin and extremely dark. It's burning oil, and I'm not sure if it's rings or valves. But the vehicle will only be logistically useable intil the end of this year when the Florida tag expires next January. Since the owner is in Italy and has zero interest in renewing the tag this time around, the only option will be for Rain to buy a vehicle. I figure around November we'll know for sure what price range she'll be able to afford and we'll go from there. Though she wants a Mini Cooper, she'll probably get a Scion xA, Toyota Matrix or something equivalent (4-door hatchback or sedan). I'm still thinking of collecting a beater Toyota Tacoma (I'd love the black Toyota 4x4 from Back to the Future) for the rare occasion a truck is necessary, but we'll see how much spare cash I have when the Equinox is no longer legal.
After lunch Rain headed to work while Vikki and I headed to the Georgia Department of Labor and the Georgia Department of Driver Services respectively. We arrived at around 2:35, I was out by 3:25, and we left around 4:50. Needless to say, it was very busy, but both of us accomplished our respective tasks and were on our way.
A trip to Pep Boys, a haircut and a stop to K-Mart later and we were home by 7pm. I am now hair trimmed and clean shaven, and I discovered that I can't read Roman numerals by confusing IV with VI. Needless to say instead of playing my favorite RPG of all time on a Game Boy Advance, I'm playing my second favorite from the same long and varied series. Feels good to be playing a Final Fantasy again, even if I won't be waging war against Kefka by the end. Likewise, apparently I left both my DS and DS Lite in Tampa. I meant to take the DS Lite with me. Oh well. A GBA-SP works just as well.
Before I leave you all to your respective friend's pages, I just want to say that vaulted ceilings are a pain in the ass to remove cobwebs from.
Goodnight, LiveJournal Land.
