So... I went to donate blood yesterday at work.  My interview went something like this...

"It says here you were a dependant of someone in the military and lived in Europe."

"That's correct."

"Where did you live and when?"

"We lived in Berlin, Germany from sometime in '89 through '91."

".... I see."

::Interview lady flips through some pages in a huge black binder::

"I'm sorry to inform you that you are permanently deferred from donating blood."

"...You mean I can never give blood... ever?  Why?"

"You have a high chance of being a carrier of bovine spongiform encephalopathy."

".... Mad Cow Disease?!"

"Yes.  The British supplied the beef to the military bases at that time.  They didn't screen for Mad Cow back then."

"...."

Thanks Britain.

So, long story short...  I can't give blood because I could be carrying Mad Cow Disease.  I hate to say it, but that's kind of awesome.  Just when I thought my life couldn't get any more bizarre.
