5 Things x3

Apr 21, 2008 10:31

I've been neglecting the 5 things posts lately, so I'm going to make up for it by posting not 5, not 10, but 15 happy things that have been happening over the last few weeks.

(1) Got a good performance review at work--one of the highest scores in the store, they told me.

(2) Along with the good review comes the annual raise, which I didn't get last year for various logistical reasons. I don't know how much it is yet, but I'll know when I get my paystub on Friday.

(3) I've got my planters and greenhouse all planned out for when the weather warms up.

(4) I got 89% on a test in a class I've been somewhat ignoring.

(5) I made one wall of my dining room area into a French memo board, and it looks great. A little unprofessional maybe, but great, and it adds a lot of color to that area of the apartment.

(6) I organized the cabinet under the kitchen sink this weekend with some wire drawers, and now it's much easier to get to the cleaning stuff down there.

(7) My old Swiffer gave up the ghost. It was a Swiffer from when they first came out, and the foam pad on the bottom was cracking and a chunk broke off as I mopped this weekend. So now I have a spiffy new green one that's easier to use since the hinges of the head are much nicer.

(8) Speaking of Swiffers, I love my Swiffer Flicker. Since I don't have pet hair in my apartment (yet) it works great between vacuum sessions. I imagine when the chinchilla comes home I'll be vacuuming more often.

(9) Jeremy came to visit for two weekends in a row. It's nice to have someone else in the bed when I wake up.

(10) For the first time in a while, all my laundry (except for tiny little quarter-loads in the bins) is washed. Now it just has to be put away.

(11) Now that we're done with the introductory stuff, classes are starting to get interesting.

(12) Jonathan Coulton concert this Saturday!

(13) I'm getting my required Psychology experiment participation out of the way early this quarter. Since I'm in 2 200-level psych courses, I'm required to participate in a total of 4 hours of experiments. Got my first 30 minutes out of the way last Friday, have another 30 minutes this Friday, and an hour next week.

(14) Lego Star Wars for the Wii is actually quite fun. I like 2-player co-op games that don't require all that much mad skillz.

(15) Now that I'm not having to spend $40+ a week on meals from the food court at work, I'm able to start saving more money per paycheck. It's not MUCH money per paycheck, but it still adds up to an extra thousand dollars in the savings account per year. And one can always use an extra thousand dollars in the savings account.
