*chapter 10*
Kazuya stopped in his track, still glaring at the boy, angrily; he walked back up the stairs.
Entering his room, he felted as if something took control of him, he didn’t understand this feeling, he grabbed hold of anything and threw it. Why was he so pissed off!? That damn ungrateful Jin, how dare he assume that Junno was the one taking care of him, how dare he look at the other with such admiration in his eyes?! Who does he think he is?!
After a while, the angrier slowly disappear and the room was once again in a mess; papers, clothes and furniture fills the ground, scattered.
Kazuya stood there staring at the door, “You are going to pay for this…” he murmured, “don‘t think you can escape, you ungrateful bastard.”
Suddenly he heard a knock on the door, causing him to walk over and opened it, seeing his prey in front of him.
Jin bowed, “Good morning, Master Kazuya.” he greeted.
“You’re awake,” he paused, “I thought you were going to die.” he added.
Jin stare at him, “I’m here to clean your room.” he ignored the insult.
Kazuya looked away irritated, “Clean my room in a hour.” he commanded as he walked away.
Seeing Kazuya walked away from the door, Jin finally saw the room, and was in shook, it looked like the first day all over again. He quickly turned to face the other and Kazuya glare in return.
“An hour?” he repeated.
“Yes, by the time I come back it better be clean, or else!” he said, walking away.
Jin stood there speechless, watching his Master walk away from him.
*********
Kazuya reached outside, not knowing what to do so that the time would pass faster. If he goes to the club, it would be weird since its still morning. Kazuya ended up walking around the garden for awhile, hoping that that will take his mind off the time, making it go faster.
Taking out his phone, he decided to give Maru a call, since Ueda would always disagree on his plan, “Maru? Are you doing anything?” he asked, as he heard the other answer.
“Not really… why?”
“That’s good! Want to go hang out for an hour or two?” he asked.
Maru paused, “No… not today…” he answer.
Hearing the older boy’s answer, Kazuya became shock; he was never turned down by Maru before, how come he was disagreeing this time? “WHAT!?”
“No, I’m not feeling well today…” he explained.
“Oh, OH! I know! I’ll come over!” he said.
“Oh… that’s fine with me… Ueda’s already over.”
With that being settled, both the boys hung up.
*********
Jin once again, stood in the middle of the room, not knowing where to start. Jin sighed as he picked up a random piece of paper from the ground. “Out of all the chores in this house, why am I stuck cleaning this messy room?” he asked himself, as he continue picking up the papers.
“Oh, Jin.” someone called out, entering the room. Jin looked at who it was; there stood the smiling boy again. “I’ll help you, since you are not fully recover yet.” he added.
“Oh. No, its okay, I can do this.” Jin replied.
Junno smile, “No, its okay! You are not fully recover from your wound, or your cold. Let me help, okay?”
Jin sat there staring at the boy who already started helping, “Thank you!” Jin paused, “again.” he added, smiling brightly at the boy.
Junno looked back. “No problem.”
*********
Entering the older boy’s house, he quickly saw both Maru and Ueda sitting there on the couch in the living room. “Hey!” he greeted them.
“Hi…” Maru greeted back.
Ueda gave the other a nod.
“So, what are you two doing?”
“Nothing… just talking.”
“About?”
“Nothing…” Maru answer.
“What? Why can’t you tell me? We’re all friends here, right?”
Maru smile, “Of course, but it’s nothing!” he lied.
Kazuya could only stare at him suspiciously, “Okay… let’s have fun!” he yelled.
Maru slowly nodded, wanting to get the thoughts out of his mind anyways.
*********
“FINISH!” Jin yelled, falling onto the clean floor, exhausted.
“YAY!” Junno called out.
“In less than an hour too! 55 minute.” Jin added out of breathe, but smiling.
“That’s good! What’s next?”
Jin turned to Junno and shrugged, “I don’t know…”
“OH! I know, the floor, you haven’t helped me in ages!” Junno teased.
Jin smiled, “OKAY!”
*********
Three hours passed, and at last Kazuya finally headed home, “I bet you’re not even finish yet…” he murmured, smiling to himself.
“Did you say something Master?” Koki asked, stopping the car at the mansion.
“It’s nothing” he answered.
“Well, we’re home.” he called out, getting out of the car and opening the door to Kazuya.
Kazuya quickly looked up at his room’s window, and certainly, the curtains were still wide open. Kazuya slowly smiled again, “Not done yet… just like I thought, couldn’t even finish it in three hours.” he murmured as he enter the house.
Koki stood there, staring at him weirdly, “Something most be up?” he thought, shaking it off as he closed the car door, and drove the car away.
Kazuya opened the door to his room, suspecting that Jin was still in there, cleaning; “I knew you weren’t going to finish yet.” he called out, looking around his room. That was when he noticed how clean the room was and that there was no Jin in sight. Kazuya became confused, walking over to his office; it was clean too, yet no Jin. “Did he finish already?” he thought. Opening his closet door, all his clothes been wash and hung up. “How?” he asked.
Kazuya walked out of his room angrily again, “RYO!” he called out, seeing the said boy.
“Master Kazuya, welcome back!” Ryo greeted.
“Where’s Jin!?”
“Jin?” he paused, “I think he’s cleaning his assigned floors.”
“Floors?” he repeated.
“Hai, is there anything I should do?”
“No, go back to work.” he said as he walked away.
Looking at all floors, Kazuya wasn’t able to spot the boy, which got him angrier, “Where are you!” he thought, looking around.
Making it to the first floor, he finally saw the other, “J-”
“Jin!” someone interrupted, causing Kazuya to look toward the speaker, there stood Madam, Kazuya walked closer to a wall and hid behind it, listening to them.
“Hai?”
“Can you go up to Kazuya’s room and grab the file on his desk for me?”
“File? Which one?”
“All the one in his lower drawer, in his workroom.”
“Hai!”
Hearing this, a plan came to mind, “I’m gonna get you fired this time.” he murmured, racing up to his room first.
Kazuya quickly grabbed all the files and hid them, before returning to sit on his bed, waiting for the younger boy to come up.
Suddenly there were a knock on the door, “Come in.” he said, looking up from the book that he was pretending to be occupied with, Jin opened the door and entered, standing in front of the boy, “What do you want?”
Jin bowed, “I’m here to retrieve a file for Madam.” Jin answer.
“Oh, go ahead.” he said, looking back down at his book.
Jin gave out a nod before heading toward the office in search of the file. He looked around the lower drawer of the desk, a bit confused. He remembered seeing it when he was cleaning, but where was it now? Jin search all around. “Where could it be…” he murmured, not knowing what happen to it.
“What are you looking for?” the sudden voice caused Jin to look up.
“I’m looking for a file for Madam…” he answered.
“I’m not stupid, I heard you the first time.” Kazuya yelled, “I’m asking what it is?”
“I’m sorry” Jin apologized, “But I don’t know what it is either…” he answered.
“So useless!” he yelled, walking away.
Jin continued to look for it, but there was no luck, he couldn’t find it, Jin walked out the room empty handed.
Seeing Jin exit the room, Kazuya quickly tossed the book aside and ran to grab the files to place it back.
*********
Jin entered Madam’s room, “Did you find the file?” she asked, looking up at him.
“I’m sorry Madam; I wasn’t able to find it.” Jin bowed.
“Wasn’t able to find it?” she repeated.
“Hai, I’m sorry!”
The Madam stood up, “Come with me, we’ll go look for it together then.” she said, walking ahead of the boy, as he follow.
Both Madam and Jin enter the room. Kazuya stood up as he saw his mother, “So, you decide to show up yourself to grab the file?” Kazuya asked, staring at Jin.
“Yeah, Jin wasn’t able to find it, so I decide to come and help.” she replied as she walked toward Kazuya’s office. Jin also followed, but he stopped at the doorway, watching Madam make her way toward the drawer. Kazuya couldn’t help but walked over too.
Opening the exact drawer that Madam had directed Jin, the files were there, she took them all out, “That’s weird, they are here, like I told you.” she said showing it to Jin.
“I-”
“You are useless, she even told you and you couldn’t even find it. How pathetic.” Kazuya suddenly interrupted, staring at Jin, “You should just get fired, seeing that you can’t do anything right!”
“I’m sorry!” Jin apologized, “I’m truly sorry!”
“It’s okay, it was my fault, I didn’t direct you well enough and you never even saw how the files looked like before, so you wouldn’t know.” she said.
Kazuya stare at her confusedly, no, this was not how it was supposed to go, Jin was supposed to get fired. How come she letting it go? She always fired anyone whenever they made a mistake, how come she’s not doing it now? Something’s wrong. Something’s definitely up! Kazuya gave one last glare at Jin, as he walked away angrily.
*********
The next morning, Kazuya came down the stair and quickly notice the younger boy, already up, and cleaning. Jin felt the presence of the other and looked up, “Morning, Master Kazuya.” he greeted, seeing the older boy walking toward him.
Kazuya only glared back, as he entered the dining room.
Jin continued to stare at him, until he was fully out of sight then Jin turned back to his work. “Such a rude idiot…” he murmured, sweeping the floor.
“Hey Jin!” someone greeted, tapping him on the shoulder.
Jin quickly turn to see who it was, of course he figure, it was the taller maid: Junno. Jin smile, “Yo!”
“So, what’s your schedule for today? Cleaning whose room? Grocery shopping? Taking out the trash??” he asked.
Jin only stared at him in confusion, “I don’t know… I think cleaning room again…” he answered.
“Ahh!~ easy!”
Jin laughed, “What’s yours?”
Junno pouted, “Emptying the trash cans…”
“No worry! I’ll help you!” Jin said.
“Jin!” someone called.
“I got to go!” Jin said, leaving the taller boy with the broom, as he ran off.
*********
“Here’s your breakfast…” Jin said, placing the bowl of soup down.
Kazuya continued to glare at him.
“Kazuya… I need you to do something for me today,” Madam said, staring at her son.
“Yeah?”
“I need you to go down to the mall and pick up some of my things that I had ordered.”
“Again? What is it now?”
Madam laughed, “Just things…”
Kazuya stared at his mother and slowly he nodded, knowing that he could never win against her, “Okay…” he mumbled.
Madam smiled before turning toward Jin, “Jin.” she said, causing the boy to look toward her.
“How may I help you?” he asked.
“I would like you to accompany Kazuya.” she continued.
“What?”
“Please go with Kazuya to the mall and help him, after all, you are his assigned personal maid.”
Jin kept quiet for a slight moment before nodding, “Hai.”
Kazuya glare at the boy once more, as a smirk slowly form on the boy’s face. “I’m gonna make you suffer…” he murmured.
*********
Jin stood there by the sink, washing the dishes, “Why me?” he thought, continuing to wash the same plate constantly, forgetting about his surroundings.
“JIN!!” someone yelled, snapping him out of thought.
“Hai!” he called out, turning toward the voice.
“It’s time to get going!” Ryo called out.
“Already? But I haven’t change yet.”
“Go, go, before he gets more piss off!”
“Hai!” Jin said, taking off the glove, before running toward the main door.
Making it outside, Koki was already standing by the car, waiting, “Sorry!!” Jin apologized.
“Get in the car.”
“Sorry, sorry!” he bowed, entering the car.
Kazuya watched him as he entered, but when their eyes met, the older boy suddenly looked away, “Useless…” he murmured.
“Sorry…” he whispered, hoping the boy heard.
*********
Kazuya was already far ahead of the younger boy as Jin tried to catch up, to Jin, it almost looked like Kazuya was walking double his steps.
He finally stopped at a store and waited for the younger boy to catch up, “FASTER!” he yelled.
Jin quickly ran over to Kazuya, as they both enter the store together. Picking up the supplies, Kazuya’s handed it over to Jin, who grabbed it. The man behind the counter continued to give Kazuya more and more things as Kazuya handed them over to Jin. The younger boy stared at the devil with disbelief, he wasn’t sure how much more he can carry, it seemed like it was never going to end.
At the end, Jin held more bags than he could carry, there wasn’t any room for more and he couldn’t manage to make any free space either, “Master Kazuya…” he said, giving the other a worried look.
“What?”
“How much more do we have to pick up?”
Kazuya suddenly stopped, “What?!” he yelled, “Is it too heavy already?”
Jin shook his head, “No, I’m not saying that… I was just wondering.”
Hearing this, Kazuya continued to walk on.
At last, they made it to the last stop, this time Jin hands were filled with bags hanging down from his arm and boxes stack up on top of one another.
Jin stood by the door as Kazuya went in, after a while he came back out with a big box label ‘Vase’.
Jin stared at it, hoping that Kazuya would be nice enough to at least carry it by himself.
But he was wrong.
The devil suddenly handed it over to Jin, but the other could only stare back, not knowing how he was going to accept it when his hands were more than just occupied.
“TAKE IT!” he yelled.
“Um… Master… can you he-”
“HERE!” he said placing it on top of the other boxes. It was heavier than before, the vase most have been precious to weight so much. Jin became worried; he could hardly see where he was going now.
“Let’s go home now.” Kazuya said as he walked ahead.
“Mas… Master” Jin called, walking slowly behind, not trying to drop anything, especially not the vase.
After walking from the fifth floor to the second floor, Jin’s hand got more and more tried, he wasn’t able to hold it any longer, suddenly he bump into something, causing stack of boxes to fall, Jin’s eyes were only on the vase, dropping all the bag, he dive down. It was too late.
Hearing all the noises Kazuya’s stopped and looked back, his eyes widen. Angrily he walked toward the boy, “WHAT IS THIS!!?” he yelled.
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” Jin apologized.
Kazuya picked up the box with the vase in it and opened it. That was when he flipped it around to empty it, making all the pieces fall out in front of Jin and then he threw the empty box at the younger boy, “Do you know how much this cost?!” he asked angrily.
“I’m sorry.” Jin bowed, not knowing how to answer the other.
“It cost more than your life!” he yelled, pushing the other over.
“I’m sorry!” he repeated.
“Walk home!” he ordered angrily, as he picked up all the things and walked away.
Jin sat there, worried as he watch his Master walk away, tear filled his eyes. Without farther thinking, he slowly wiped his tears and stood up, picking up the empty box, he started collecting the broken pieced of the vase, “One way or another, I’m going to find a way to make it up.”
*********
Kazuya sat in the car as he watch Koki get in, “Is the vase okay?” Kazuya asked.
“Hai!” Koki answer, “Why did you order two different vases?”
“Nothing…” he said, looking away, “Go.” he added.
“How about Jin?”
“GO!!” he yelled, frightening the other as he started the car, and drove off.
*********
Jin walked down the street as the tear continued to fall down his cheeks, how was he going to pay for the vase?
That was when Jin stopped at a bridge and placed the box down, before staring up at the sunrise, “Why does it has to be me?” he murmured, “Why must these things happen to me?”
After a while of walking, Jin finally reached the mansion, he sighed as he ringed the door bell.
“Jin?” the other end answered.
“Hai.”
“The gate is unlocked.”
“Thank you…” he said, as he opened the gate and walked in.
Entering the house, Junno ran toward him, “Why did you come home separately?” Junno asked.
Jin smile, “I wanted to walk.” he lied.
“Oh… Are you sure?”
Jin continued to force the smile on, “Why would I lie?”
Slowly Junno smiled, “Okay.”
“I’ll be in my room then.”
“Okay… good night!” Junno said.
“Good night.” Jin replied walking up the stairs with the box of the shattered vase.
*********
Kazuya stood by the living room door, listening to the two conversation, “Wanted to walk?” he murmured, looking away, “Stupid, useless bastard, you deserved this.”
But as he continue sitting on the couch, he couldn’t help but remember the younger boy’s sorrowed face, how the boy looked when he was apologizing, the frightened, worried eyes of his kept popping up in Kazuya’s mind. Kazuya quickly shook his head, trying to get rid of the image, “He deserved it! The dumb boy deserved it!!“ he thought, telling himself not to feel sorry for someone that wasn’t even grateful for all he done for him!
Yet again, he thought back to the scene. Kazuya quickly snap back, “AHHH!” he yelled, irritated, he walked to his room.
*********
Jin slowly took out a piece of the vase. Slowly he placed them together and glued them, trying to put the right piece in place. It wasn’t long before his eyes got heavier, he couldn’t see the pieces clearly anymore.
“Just a rest…“ he whispered to himself, as he placed his head down, “I’ll just rest my eyes for a second and then continue…“ he thought. But as soon as his head touched the table, he fell deeply asleep.
*********
Kazuya stood there by the door, he was still mad, yet he wanted to know what the boy did with the vase.
He walked around the hallways several of times, before stopping. Taking in a breath, he walked toward the door and knocked on it, getting ready.
After a while of waiting for an answer, Kazuya tried knocking again, but once more, there was no answer.
Kazuya slowly open the door, only to spot the boy asleep on the table.
Without realizing it, he walked in, closing the door behind him.
The boy took a step closer to the younger boy, and that was when he noticed the broken vase, almost back to one piece. Of course the cracks could still be seen, but all the pieces were perfectly in place. Kazuya angrily grabbed the thing and held it over the floor. However, as he was about to drop the vase, his eyes quickly gazed at Jin once more. Without knowing why, Kazuya stopped. He watched the boy sleeping face as his hand dropped down to his side, not letting go of the vase “This is stupid…” he mumbled, “I shouldn’t be wasting my time…”
Quietly, he left the room, taking the vase with him.
