*chapter 13*

The next day, the sun was shining brightly while a cool breeze blew by, however this perfect day was not seen by the confused boy who once more stood by the gate just like the day before.

“What am I doing here?” he murmured not understanding why he was there, waiting for the younger boy to come down again. Kazuya slowly shook his head, “Should I be doing this?” he asked himself, as he turn toward the street, just at that moment something caught his eyes.

In front of him stood Yamapi, Kazuya narrowed his eyes in confusion, “Why… what are you doing here?” he asked.

Yamapi took notice of the other and halted, “I’m here to walk Jin.” he answered.

“Why?”

Yamapi smiled, “Jin asked me to walk him to school.”

When he heard this, Kazuya suddenly felt challenged by the other’s smile, “He doesn’t need you anymore, he already asked me to walk him to school.”

Of course Yamapi wasn‘t going to back down anytime soon, “We’ll have to see what Jin say.” he said instead.

Kazuya irritably continue to stare at him, “We’ll see…” he murmured, turning again to face the mansion. He didn’t know why but seeing the other just made him piss off, Jin doesn’t need Yamapi, Jin already got him, he’s all that Jin need to walk to school with. They even live together, that make it more reason why they should be able to go together. Hell, Jin should be thanking him for using his sweet time walking the other. Why would he even ask Yamapi when Jin got him?

That was when he quickly notice the younger boy walked toward them, making him snap out of thought.

Jin looked at Kazuya with an confuse look, “Master Kazuya?” he said under his breath, stopping before the older boy, “Master Kazuya… I thought you left already.”

When Kazuya heard this, he glanced away.

“What are y-” but before Jin could finish his sentences, Kazuya grabbed his arm and pulled him over.

“Don’t act as if you don’t know, you begged me to walk you yesterday, remember? Today I was being considerate and thinking that I should walk you without you begging. So don’t say such things.” he quickly interrupted, his eyes went back to Yamapi with a glare.

Jin didn’t understand why, but the moment Kazuya held his arm and pulled him, his whole body froze as his heart started beating faster just like the day before, was this Kazuya’s nice side? Could this devil actually have a nice side? At this moment Jin couldn’t think straight, but deep inside, he felt a little happiness developing.

*********

Somehow, he felted overprotected as he walked down the street. Jin slowly glanced behind him, seeing the other two walking after, Kazuya and Yamapi quickly took notice of his glance, making Jin give out an nervous smile as he quickly turn back to face the street again.

Kazuya watched Jin strongly until he was certain that the boy wasn’t going to look back again, and that was when he turned to his opponent that walked along side with him, noticing that the other was speeding up, obviously trying to walk next to Jin. Kazuya sped up too until he was ahead of Yamapi and right behind Jin. Suddenly he felt a tug on his shoulder, Yamapi pulled him back and advanced ahead. Kazuya quickly did the same, the two trying as hard as possible not to make Jin notice their immature act.

Reaching the school, Kazuya took charge and went ahead of them both, “I don’t want to be seen with the two of you.” he said as he ran toward the school gate first.

Jin stood there, watching the devil disappear into the crowds, “I guess a devil can’t became an angel that fast…“ he whispered under his breath.

Yamapi sighed as he walked up to Jin’s side, “Let’s get going, we might be late” he said, as he smiled at the younger boy.

Jin turn toward Yamapi and smiled back, “Yeah.”

*********

Throughout the day Kazuya couldn’t help but pay full attention to the boy in front of him; talking and laughing with his friend. Somehow deep inside, he felted like he wanted to be the one who the younger boy was talking and laughing with. “Stupid boy…” he mumbled.

Suddenly someone tapped him on the shoulder, causing him to snapped back to reality, “Yeah?” he said looking toward the person who had tapped him, Erika smiled at him.

“Kazuya-kun, are you okay?” she asked.

Kazuya nodded.

Erika continued to smile, “I brought lunch… want to eat it with me?”

Without saying anything Kazuya places his finger up to his lips, “Shh…” he whispered, as he pointed up to the front again. Seeing this caused Erika to get angry, making her pout.

Kazuya shook his head to clear his mind as he try to pay full attention to the teacher in front once more. However, without knowing it, his eyes went back to the younger boy, his full attention on Jin again.

“After lunch, I will announce who your partner will be for the upcoming project.” the teacher called out.

Hearing this caused Kazuya to look up at her, “Partner? Project?” he mumbled.

Just then the bell for lunch rung, causing everyone to slowly leave one by one, Kazuya quickly notice, both Jin and Yamapi leaving together, “Partner?” he repeated, watching the other go. Somehow he felted like he needed to know who Jin’s partner was.

Erika looked over at Kazuya, “Kazuya-kun, let’s go eat lunch!” she said as she smile at Kazuya.

He smiled back, but didn’t answer.

“C’mon let’s go.” she said as she grabbed a hold of him, but he quickly broke free.

“Erika, you can go ahead, I have something to do so I might skip lunch today.” he said.

Erika glared at him as she pouted again and walked away.

Kazuya watched her until she was out of sight. Looking around cautiously, he made his way to the front of the room as he slowly took notice of the folder left behind by the teacher. Kazuya curiously brought a hand forward to the folder and that was when someone popped in.

“Yo.” Maru said as he peeked into the room, causing Kazuya to back away, “Let’s get grab lunch.” he added, not noticing the other’s panic reaction.

Kazuya smiled, “Not today, you guys go ahead, I have something to catch up on.” he answered.

“No lunch?” Maru asked.

“Yeah.”

“I guess… Well, see you later.” Maru replied as he walked away with Ueda.

Kazuya walked to the door and watched them until they were out of sight, then he looked at both side of the hall, making sure nobody was there to distract him and that was when he ran back to the folder, opening it up to reveal a list, it was obviously the partner list. “Lets see, I’m with…” he paused, looking for his number and the number he was paired up with, “Number…27?” he said, as he looked at the attendance paper that listed their names along with their assigned number. “Who’s this?” he murmured, seeing number 27 along with an unknown name, he obviously didn‘t know his classmates.

Searching through the list, a certain name quickly caught his eyes, “Akanishi Jin…” he mumbled, “Who are you partner up with?” he asked, going back to the partner list, “Number 30? Who’s that?” he took out the attendance list again. “Number 30, number 30...” he repeated and that was when he froze, his eyes widening, “Yamashita… Tomohisa…” he whispered out of shock. Out of all the students in the damn class, why are they always together, were they fated to be or something?! “No, I cannot let that happen.” he found himself saying, “No way am I letting that bastard be fated with my slave.“ he said as he went back to the project list.

*********

A gust of wind blew past the two people who stood in silence on the rooftop. Everybody was busy with their lunchtime leaving the roof empty and perfect for the taller boy to consult his friend about his problem. The only issue now was how he was going to bring it up.

“So, what did you wanted to talk about?” Ueda said, disrupting Maru’s thoughts.

Maru turn toward him, “Hmm…how do I say this…” he paused, “I don’t really understand my feelings…” he said.

Ueda didn’t say anything, but only stare at the boy with a confused look.

“I‘m not sure how to say it… I don’t know how I feel.”

Ueda raised an eyebrow, becoming even more confused, “I don’t get it…”

The taller boy gave out a sigh, “I think I have feeling for someone… but I don’t know if I am.” he explained.

Ueda nodded his head, “Okay… So, who is it?”

Maru looked at him, “I don’t know if I like him or not.”

The other returned the stare without saying anything, but Maru knew exactly what he wanted, a solid answer.

“Umm… It’s Kazuya’s driver; Koki.” he mumbled.

“Koki?” Ueda repeated.

“I don’t know if I like him or not, I’m just can’t determine my feeling.”

“So, you like him?”

“Were you listening?” he called out, “I don’t know my feeling, I can’t figure it out.”

“When did you start thinking you have this feeling?” Ueda said instead.

Maru paused, “It was the last time we were at Kazuya’s place, Koki was on break so he changed into his normal clothing, at that moment when I saw him, my heart started to act weird.” Maru answered, “I’m not sure why I keep thinking about him, I knew Koki for a while now…but I don’t understand why I’m feeling like this now.”

Ueda nodded his head, taking in what his just heard, “I have a plan.” he suddenly said.

Hearing this, Maru walked closer to Ueda, “What?”

“I have a plan for you to determine if the feeling is real or not.”

“And that is?”

“Going over and spending time with him.” he quickly said.

“WHAT!?”

“Spending time together, can help you determine the answer.” he explained.

“Spending time with him?”

Ueda nodded.

Maru watched Ueda, trying to see if the other was joking, but seeing that he wasn‘t, Maru gave in, “…Okay… but Kazuya must know nothing about this.”

“Now that’s the problem, we can’t get inside his house if he don’t know.”

“But he can’t know, you know what he’s going to do if he finds out.”

“I know…”

Maru looked out to the field below, trying to think of something and suddenly an idea came to mind, “Lets just say we wanted to hang out.” Maru said as he smile.

Ueda looked at Maru, “I guess… if you are so determine.”

However, before the two could continue discussing the plan, the warning bell rang, signaling the end of lunchtime.
“What? Lunch’s already over?” Maru complained, “Let’s discuss it after class, okay?” he added. With that, it caused both Maru and Ueda to go back to class.

*********

The light from the windows shine upon the only boy in the room as he looked up from his book, smirking up at the folder, that contained the project list, laying on the teacher’s desk, “No matter what, you can’t get away from me.”

Before going back to his book, someone walked in, causing him to look toward the direction of the entrance and before him, stood his prey. Jin slowly walked to his desk, not noticing the older boy, nor the look that Kazuya was giving him. Slowly a smile grew across the devil’s face, “You can never escape me…” he mumbled.

“So, where’s your friend?” Kazuya suddenly asked, breaking the silence.

Jin looked up surprised as he slowly turn around to face the other, “He had something to do…” Jin answer.

“Without you?”

Jin looked at him confusedly, but before he could answer, Yamapi walked into the room.

“Yo.” he called out, causing both Kazuya and Jin to turn toward him, Yamapi paused, noticing Kazuya’s glare and Jin’s hesitated look, “Did I interrupt you guys?”

“No…” Jin answered.

Kazuya turned his glare toward Jin, “Of course you interrupted us, we were talking.” he replied, his eyes still on Jin.

Yamapi nodded his head, “Sorry…” he quickly said, walking toward his seat next to Jin.

Jin shook his head as he position himself forward, focusing on the front again.

This only caused Kazuya to be angrier as he sat behind them, glaring at his prey.

Before long, the room became fill with students again as class once more resumed. The teacher walked toward her spot at the front and turned to everyone, “Student, I am now going to announce who your partner are.” she said.

As she was announcing the partner numbers, Yamapi leaned over to Jin, “I hope we get to be partners.” he whispered.

Jin smiled, “I hope so…”

Just then he heard his number, “Number 5 you are with number 13”

Jin looked up at the teacher, “Number 13?? Who’s that?” he murmured, as he turn toward Yamapi, “Who’s number 13??”

Yamapi shrugged, “I don’t know either…”

“I guess I’ll allow you guys to have the first half hours to get started on your project. The list will be right here if you forgot your partner.” she said, as she left the room. Once she was gone, everyone started partnering up, as Jin walked up to the front desk.

“Number 13 is…” he mumbled looking down the list and that was when he stopped, “Kamenashi Ka..zuya.” he said as he looked up, “My partner is the devil…” he whispered.

*********

Kazuya sat in his seat, watching his prey react as a smiled appear on his face, “Now you are stuck with me…” he whispered, noticing Jin walking toward him.

“I guess… I’m your partner…” Jin said, stopping in front of the desk.

Kazuya glare at him, “You act as if I want to be partner with you, seeing you here and at home is already enough, now I have to do a project with you?”

“I can go ask the teacher to change, if you don’t want to work with me.” he said, turning his back toward the boy.

Kazuya quickly stood up, and grabbed a hold of the other, “Don’t.”

Jin looked back at him with a confused look, “What?”

“Don’t go ask…” he paused, trying to think of an excuse, “Why would you want the teacher to switch, don’t you see everyone is already starting, why would you want to ruin that by switching partners, just work with me.” he said in a different tone.

“But…”

“Stop being so stupid, and just work!” he said angrily.

Jin couldn’t do anything else as he found himself nodding and taking a seat across from the devil.

*********

The last bell rung for the day and Jin slowly packed his stuff, “Partner with Kazuya…” he murmured.

Yamapi looked over at Jin, “Are you sure you can handle it?” he asked.

Jin smile and nodded, “I think so…”

“Should we go ask if you can switch?”

Jin shook his head, “No, it should be okay.”

Yamapi frowned, but nodded, forcing a smile on “Let’s get going.”

With that both Yamapi and Jin left the room.

Kazuya watched from afar as a smile slowly formed on his face again, “You can’t get away from me…” he repeated, glaring at his prey as he walked out of the room.

“Kazuya-kun, let’s go out today.” Erika suddenly said breaking the silence.

Kazuya turned and noticed that Erika was still with him, he quickly pulled a smile on, “I guess, since I promise…” he replied.

Hearing this brighten up the girl, “Really?!”

“Yes.”

Erika quickly grabbed a hold of the older boy‘s arm, “Should we get going?” she called out.

The older boy smiled at her as he nodded, just when they made it to the door, both Maru and Ueda came in, “Oh Kazuya? You’re not going home?” Maru asked.

Kazuya looked over at Erika, “Erika, go ahead, I’ll meet you down by the gate, okay?”

Erika nodded as she let go of the older boy and left.

Kazuya watched her until she was out of sight then he turned back to Maru, “I can’t… I have to take her out to eat…”

“What? Really? Why?”

Kazuya sighed, “I promise her a while back that I will take her out to eat.”

“Really? Why today?” Maru complained.

Just when Kazuya was going to answer he stopped and looked at Maru in confusion, “Why does it concern you?”

Maru’s eyes widen, as he started laughing, “It’s doesn’t concern me… it was that…” he paused, trying to think of an excuse, “I just wanted to hang out today.” Maru lied.

Kazuya kept a suspicious eye on Maru as he nodded his head, “Not today… I got to get going now, Erika is waiting.” he said as he was about to leave, turning back toward the two boys standing there, “Can you guys tell Koki to go on without me… thank you.” he said as he quickly ran off.

Hearing this Maru grew a smile upon his face, “I got an idea…” he said, staring over at Ueda.

Ueda looked at him without saying anything.

“Let’s get going.” he said, walking ahead of the other.

*********

Jin stood by the window waiting for Yamapi, as he looked out to the courtyard, from afar he can see the devil walking side by side with a classmate.

Somehow, seeing this scene, it made Jin’s stomach sank and his heart beating painfully against his chest. He slowly moved his hand to his heart, “Why am I feeling this way?” he asked himself. He quickly shook it off, “It’s nothing…” he said, but he couldn’t help but watch the devil in front of him and the girl tugging on the devil’s arm.

Jin slowly sighed, “I guess I’ll just end up doing the project by myself…” he thought.

“Jin…” a voice from his side called out to him, causing him to snap back to reality.

“Yeah?”

“Are you okay? I been calling you for awhile now…” Yamapi asked, staring at the younger boy.

Jin quickly smiled, “I’m okay, nothing’s wrong.”

Yamapi nodded in agreement, “I guess… Let’s get going!” he said as he swing his arm around the younger boy’s shoulder, “Let’s go eat some ice cream, before we send you off.” he added.

Hearing this, Jin looked over at Yamapi, “Are you sure? Wouldn’t I be bothering you too much?”

Yamapi shook his head, “I assist, it‘s on me.”

Jin nodded, “Thank you Yamapi.”

Yamapi looked at Jin in confusion as he quickly rustle the younger boy’s hair, “Why so depress?” he laughed.

Jin laugh along.

Yamapi watched Jin’s laughing face and smiled sweetly, “This will be our first eat out together!” he said.

The boy replied with a cheerful nod.

*********

Maru walked faster than normal, as the other boy was far behind. Maru took a glance back, to only see his friend a couple feet away, “Ueda walk faster.” he yelled, at the other boy.

Ueda looked up at the boy in front of him, as he continue to walk at his pace.

Maru quickly took notice, as he ran toward the boy, “Come on Ueda, we have to hurry before he leave!” he said, grabbing a hold of the boy’s shoulder and pushing him faster.

“What’s your plan?”

“Keep going, I’ll tell you once I get it confirm.”

Ueda nodded his head, letting himself be pushed by Maru.

Reaching the driver, Maru let go of Ueda, and quickly walked up to the older man, suddenly as he was close enough he can hear his heart beat faster again, “Hi… Hi Koki.”

Koki bowed as he looked back up, trying to spot the Master, “Where Master Kazuya?” he asked.

Maru looked over at Ueda, then back to Koki, “He told us to come tell you that, he won’t be needing you today.” Maru answered.

“Oh… Really? Where did he go? How will he be getting home?” he asked worriedly.

Seeing the driver’s worry face, somehow, Maru felt like his stomach sank, “Uhh… He went out on a date with one of his classmate, I’m not sure how he’s going to get home…” Maru answered.

Koki nodded, “Oh… I guess.” he paused, staring at the two boys in front of him, “Well, thank you for telling me, I’ll get going now.” he said as he bowed and was going to make his leave.

“Wait.” Maru called out, stopping the older boy.

Koki looked back at him, “Yes?”

“Kazuya asked you to take us over to his place…” he said looking over at Ueda, Ueda stared at him confusedly.

Koki also gave the other a confused look.

“He wanted to catch up on things, so… he told us to wait for him at his place.” he added.

The driver continue staring at him for a second and slowly nodded in agreement, “Well, if it’s the Master’s order,” he opened the door, “Please get in.” he said.

Maru smiled, “Thank you.” he said as he pulled Ueda along with him, entering the car.

While in the car, Maru’s couldn’t help his heartbeat, it was beating faster than ever. He tried calming himself down, but that didn’t help. “What’s wrong with me?” he thought, “I can’t really be feeling this way…”

Ueda stare at the younger boy, “So this is your plan?” he whispered.

Maru quickly snapped out of thoughts, “What?”

“This is your plan?” he repeated.

Maru nodded, “Yes… It’s going as planned.”

Hearing the whispers, Koki glanced up at the reflection mirror, “Are you guys gossiping?” he asked, looking back to the road.

“No.” Maru answered.

“Then why whisper? I want to know too.” he joked.

“It’s nothing…”

“Really? Nothing at all?”

Maru didn’t answer, but only looked away.

His reaction caused Koki to laugh, “I’m just kidding, continue to whisper.”

With that being said, Maru nodded, after a moment of silence, he turned to the older boy next to him, “Hey…” he said, getting the boy’s attention, “How am I suppose spend time with him without being awkward?”

Ueda shrugged, “I don’t know…”

Maru pouted, “You don’t know?”

Ueda nodded unsurely, then looked away, “I have to talk to you… today…” he thought.

Maru looked out the window as he try to come up with a reasonable plan to spend time with Koki, “GOT IT!” he yelled, causing both Ueda and Koki to stare at him.

Maru quickly notice both of their attention and looked away.

“What did you got?” Koki asked, staring up at the reflection mirror.

“It’s nothing…” Maru mumbled embarrassed.

Koki raised an eyebrow and laughed at the boy’s reaction, “Okay…”

After a while of quiet again, Maru looked up at the driver, he wasn’t playing attention to the boy anymore, and that’s when Maru quickly looked over at Ueda, “I got my plan…” he whispered, catching Ueda’s attention again.

“What is it?”

“Hmm… Let’s just say I’ll deal with it.”

Ueda nodded, “I guess…”

“What would you be doing once we get there?”

Ueda shrugged, “I don’t know… maybe sit around and wait.”

“O-”

“We’re here!” Koki called out interrupting the two as he opened the door.

“Eh? When did you stop?” Maru asked, seeing the mansion in front of them already as he got out of the car.

Koki bowed, “Please exc-”

“Koki.” Maru interrupted, causing Koki to looked up at him.

“Yes?”

“Umm… How do I say this…” he paused, rethinking of his plan, “I have a project I’m doing at school… I’m suppose to interview someone and I was wondering if I can interview you?” Maru asked.

Koki smiled, “Of course, just go wait in the living room, I’ll come in after I park the car.”

Maru nodded as he walked toward the building, “So… that’s your plan?” Ueda asked, staring at the boy walking in front of him.

Maru looked back, “Of course, you didn’t help.”

*********

Kazuya sat there looking out to the street as Erika continued to eat and chat upon herself. “Kazuya-kun?” Erika suddenly said, noticing that he wasn’t paying much attention to her.

Kazuya looked up at her, “Did you call me?” he asked.

Erika pouted, “Are you not having any fun?”

Kazuya pulled a smile, “I’m having fun.”

“Are you sure? You seem to be spacing out a lot…”

Kazuya nodded, “I’m sure, no worries.”

Hearing this, Erika smiled, “I’m really enjoying this dinner!” she said.

He nodded, “I’m happy you’re enjoying it!”

“Can we have dinner again another time?”

Kazuya looked at her, as he pulled another smile, “Of course, but we’ll have to see if I have time.”

Hearing this, Erika looked down and pouted, “Then that mean… You’ll never have time.”

“No… I promise, whenever I have time, I’ll take you out again, maybe even to the movie.”

With that being said, Erika looked brighter, “Really? No lies?”

Kazuya nodded.

“Okay!” she said as a smile grew across her face, “You’ll slowly become mine…” she thought, continuing to eat.

*********

Maru sat there across from the driver, would he be able to make up questions on the spot? What if Koki catch him, what would he do? So many questions were running in and out of his head. He didn’t know how to start it without being too rude and nosy.

Koki looked at him, “So, what did you want to ask about?” he said.

Maru didn’t know how to answer the older boy. He quickly looked around and that was when he came up with something. He took out a notebook from his bag, and clear his throat, “Is it okay, if some of the questions I ask are personal?”

Koki looked at the younger boy, “Personal? How personal?”

“Hmm… not as personal, but just a bit about your background.” Maru answered.

With that Koki nodded his head, “I guess it would be okay.”

Maru smiled, “Okay, let’s get started then.”

Koki nodded.

“First off, what’s your name?” Maru asked, pretending to write something down.

“Tanaka Koki.” he answered.

“How old are you?”

“21.”

Hearing the answer, Maru looked up at Koki in confusion, “Why did you decide to work, instead of finishing school?”

Koki looked back at him, “I have a feeling you’re going to be even more confuse if I tell you the reason, so… can I tell you the story?” Koki asked.

Maru nodded, “If you are willing to tell, I’ll listen.” he said.

“*FLASHBACK**

As long as I can remember, the orphanage was my home, I spend most of my childhood there. Living there, I saw people come and go. Knowing that they will all leave one day, I never made a close friend. I made friends, but I knew I didn‘t want to get close to them; I knew I can’t become close to someone because one day they too, will have to leave.

That saying soon change when a little boy enter the orphanage; this little boy was the most positive boy I ever seen, his smile will brighten your day even when you are down, he was the most friendliest boy ever too. This little boy was Taguchi Junnosuke. He soon became my closest friend, where ever I went, he was by my side. No one could had pull us apart.

One day a message was brought upon all of the children in the orphanage. There was a woman looking for kids, who were willing to come with her and train to become maids. Also to take care and play with her son.

Hearing this message I didn’t want to go at all, but that afternoon, I overheard a staff mentioning Junno’s name during a phone conversation. Knowing that she recommended Junno must have meant that we were going to be separated. I knew I couldn‘t let that happen and so that night, I had a talk with Junno about going with the woman. We both talked about it, and agreed, since he too, didn’t want to be separated.

While training to become maids, Madam also paid for our school tuition, but as we got to junior high, the tasks become harder, we both had lots of homework and studies to do for school, yet at home we had chores. The Madam try her best to shorten them, but it was getting harder for both of us, sometime we wouldn’t get any sleep at all.

So, we both decided to drop out of school, and kept to our chores. The Madam decline it at first, but we were able to change her mind.

**END OF FLASHBACK**

Koki looked at Maru, “This is why I didn’t finish school, having the madam take us in was more than enough and so Junno and I decided that we will repay her this way.”

Maru nodded, “Sorry…” he said.

“For what?” Koki laughed.

“For asking too much…”

Koki shook his head as he continue to laugh, “There’s nothing to be sorry about, I was willing to tell it.”

Maru looked at him, slowly nodding in agreement.

“Anything else?”

Maru quickly remember the ‘interview‘ that he was suppose to be giving, “Oh… How do you like your work?” he said reading the blank paper.

Koki smiled, “I love it, it’s not a hard job to do, all I do is drive Master Kazuya places and pick him up.”

“How long have you worked here?”

Koki looked away, “I actually don’t remember… it been long time now… Sorry.”

“No, it’s okay.“ Maru said, “Are you planning on working here forever?” he added.

Koki nodded, “Until the day Madam or Master Kazuya kick me out.”

Maru looked down at his blank page, “Now, I’ll be asking you question about your current life…”

“Okay.”

Maru paused, unsure if he should say it, but he really want to know, “Are you currently seeing anyone as of this moment?” asking this question, Maru could feel his heart beat faster.

Koki thought for awhile, “As of this moment… not really…” he answered.

Maru stared back at the other, “Not… really? What do you mean?”

Koki laughed, “I don’t know if I’m seeing her… just that I think I like her.”

Exactly when he heard this, Maru felt like his heart suddenly dropped. What was wrong? His heart felt like someone was squeezing it and each beat it made, hurt him painfully. He slowly forced a smile on, “So… what is she like?” he manage to asked.

Koki smile, “She’s beautiful,” he paused, “She’s not like any other girl out there.” he added, as he smiled shyly away.

Maru continues to force that smile to stay on, “I can’t just end it here… it’ll be too weird.” he thought.

Koki quickly notice the boy, “I’m sorry, I got carry away…” he said.

Maru nodded, “It’s okay… So, how did you meet her?” he asked, each question Maru was asking, made the pain in his heart increased.

Koki thought for awhile, even though he was looking at Maru, the other knew that his eyes wasn‘t seeing him, “It was a raining day and my car happen to die in front of her shop. I was going to call Master Kazuya, but I left my cell phone at home, so I went into her shop to use the phone. That was when I first met her.” Koki answered, as the smile never left his face.

Maru’s pain in his heart was increasing, but he managed to still smile, “That’s sweet…”

Koki didn’t answer, but only smile at the younger boy, his eyes seem so far away.

Ueda sat there looking straight at the hallway that was leading to the kitchen, “I know you’re in there…” he mumbled staring at the door.

However, Ueda hesitated to enter the kitchen, it would be awkward if he just enters the room and Junno wasn’t there, but then again he’s positive that Junno was there, he was always in there. Ueda quickly try to come up with all the possible reasons to enter the room.

That was when he stood up, “I have to enter!” he thought, walking over to the kitchen door.

“Ueda?” someone called out, causing him to stop himself.

Ueda slowly turn toward the speaker and saw that it was his friend.

“What are you doing?” Maru asked.

Ueda looked around, “Nothing.” he said.

The other gave him a fishy look, “You sure?”

Ueda nodded, as he walked toward the younger boy, “You finish?” he asked.

“Not really…”

However, Maru could see that that answer wasn’t enough to satisfy Ueda’s confusion.

“I ran out of questions…I‘ll come again tomorrow.” he explained, “Want to tag along again?” he asked.

Ueda nodded, “I guess…”

Maru gave out a loud yawn as he threw a hand around Ueda‘s shoulder, “Let’s leave, I’m hungry!” Maru called out.

The older boy couldn’t help but feel like something was up, Maru was acting differently.

“I called my driver awhile ago, he should be here already!” Maru said.

Just like Maru had said, outside of the mansion was Maru’s ride. As the two got into the car, Maru didn’t say anything. The whole ride to the restaurant was spent in silence.

“How was it?”

Maru quickly snapped out of thoughts as he took notice that they were already in the restaurant, waiting for their order. Maru looked up at Ueda, “How was what?” he asked.

The older boy stared at him without saying anything.

He quickly caught on and pulled a smile on, “It was interesting…”

“Figured out your feeling?”

“Yes… I guess…” he paused, “It was just that one time thing… during our time together, I didn’t feel anything else…” he lied.

Ueda didn’t say anything, but concentrated on the younger boy in front of him, “Something’s wrong…” he said.

Maru looked at him weirdly, “This the first time in a long while that you notice my feeling.” Maru laughed, “Nothing’s wrong.”

Ueda didn’t say anything, but watched the younger boy.

When Kazuya got home, the first place he went to was the kitchen. As he entered, all the maids looked over at him and bowed, “Welcome back Master Kazuya.”

Kazuya nodded, “Junno,” he called out, spotting the older boy among them.

Junno looked up at him, “How may I help you?”

“Where’s Jin?” Kazuya asked.

“Jin?” Junno paused, “He just got home… so I think he’s up in his room changing.” Junno answered.

“Just got home?”

Junno nodded, staring at the Master confusedly.

Kazuya looked around, “Tell Ryo to find someone to do his chores for today, he will be with me throughout the night.” he said as he left.

“Wait…” Junno called out, but it was too late, the other already left, “What do you mean by find someone?” he asked himself.

As Kazuya reached the stairs, he saw the younger boy walking down, making him run up. Jin quickly notice and stopped. When he was about to bow, Kazuya grabbed his arm, “Lets go.” he said dragging the younger boy with him.

“Wait, what?” Jin asked, pulling back and stopping him.

Kazuya looked back at him, “We have to start working on our project.” he said.

“But I have cho-”

“I already cover it for you.”

“But-”

“Come on.” he said, dragging the boy again, Jin couldn’t do anything more but follow.

Making it up to their floors, Kazuya finally released Jin’s arm, “Go get your bag, I’ll meet you in my room.” he said.

“But-”

“Just do what I say.” he interrupted.

Jin frowned but bowed, “I’m sorry.”

“I’ll wait for you.” he said as he walked to his room.

The younger boy watched until the Master entered his room and that was when he walked into his. “Why rush? It’s not even due yet…” he mumbled.

After grabbing his bag, he walked over to Kazuya’s room. Jin took a deep breath as he knocked on the door, “Master Kazuya?” he called out.

“Come in.” Kazuya answered.

Hearing this, Jin open the door and enter the room. Kazuya was laying in bed, reading his book again.

Kazuya took a glance at him as he nudged his head toward his desk, “Why are you standing there for, go do the project…” he said.

Jin looked at him in confusion, “What?”

“Do the project.” he repeated.

“By myself?”

Kazuya stare back at him from his book with irritation, “Of course, why would I help?”

“I thought we are partners…”

“So… you are still my slave.”

Jin could only looked at him with confusion, just when he was about to say something, he stopped himself, and nodded, “I understand…” he puffed out.

He walk to the desk next to the bed, taking out the notebook and paperwork as he started writing.

Kazuya curiously looked over, “You better not make any mistake.” he said.

Jin looked at him, “I won’t, I haven‘t even started yet… it‘s our name.” he said.

When he heard this, Kazuya casually got out of bed and walked over, “I don’t think I can trust you with this.” he said as he took a seat next to Jin and grabbed the paperwork, reading it over.

Jin stared at him as a small smile formed.

“Here, you work on this.” he said, handing a sheet to Jin.

Jin looked at it, noticing that he haven’t learn it yet, he turned back to the working boy, “Master Kazuya…” he said, getting the boy’s attention, “I don’t understand what I’m suppose to be doing…”

Kazuya sighed, getting irritated, “You’re useless.” he mumbled, taking the piece of paper, as he handed the one he was working on to the younger boy.

However, when he actually looked at the sheet, Kazuya too, was confused at what to do, he looked up at Jin, “Have we learn this in class?” he asked.

Jin shook his head, “I think we did… but I don’t remember.”

Kazuya clicked his tongue, “You are one useless partner…” he mumbled under his breath.

The younger boy grabbed his notebook and quickly flipped through it, “Oh wait, it’s right here, we did do it.” he said.

“Where?” Kazuya said as he leaned over, taking a look at the notebook, “I can’t even read your handwriting.” he complained.

Jin froze, feeling Kazuya‘s heat so close to him, he quickly shift his body a bit back, “Then let me give it another try…” he said instead, switching the papers once more.

“I guess… if you need any help… just ask.” Kazuya said, staring at the younger boy before turning and starting on the paper.

The paper he had wasn’t so hard, everything on it was clearly in his mind and so he answered it with ease. After a couple of hours, he rested his head on his hand, “Jin, how‘s yours going along?” he asked, but he received no answer.

He looked from his paper and saw that the younger boy was fast asleep.

“Already?” he mumbled, taking a look at his watch, it was about two in the morning. He turned back to the sleepy boy and slowly he found himself lowering his head to the boy’s level, until he could see Jin’s face clearly, “You most be tired…” he said, watching the boy sleep. Before he knew it, he too, fell asleep.

In the room of the master with the moon hanging on the window and the stars surrounding the sky, two boys could be seen sleeping on the desk by the help of the light from a small lamp. They slept soundlessly, facing one another as the night slowly went by, no thoughts crossing their mind, just a soothing sleep in each other presence.
