The last week in a half or so, I and my family have been accepting a family member back into the fold after 16 years believe it or not. My Uncle Joaquin was recently found in Port Arthur, TX after Hurricane Rita hit. He was believed dead (he's 68 not 65) but a reporter for a mexican newspaper did a story on him and posted the story online and we were able to find out he was still alive, that way. When the storm hit he weathered it out in a refrigerator and was doing odd jobs for a local grocery store for the money. My family went to Port Arthur and picked him up and now we are happy to say he is home.
A few days ago we helped him get ID for his social security, so he'll have a steady income coming in. He is now living with my Aunt Paula and looks better than what he looked like when we found him. I'm glad he's home- I was hoping he was still alive and now I know what happened to him.
This is the
link to the initial story about him.
This is the
link to the news story after he was recovered. Beware, the news stories are printed in mexican.
The two stories in a nutshell just briefly describe what I've described. Welcome home, Unko.
