collecting magical components
Who: Salyna, open
What: Salyna decides she needs material components for some enchanted items she's constructing, and pays a visit to the local jewelry store to obtain the gold, silver, and diamonds she needs that are outside her budget.
When: 2 AM or so
Where: A small jewelry store in Downtown New Troy.
Rating: PG-13, for now.
Salyna’s experiment last week had been a success; she’d bound a simple glamour spell to a pair of earrings allowing her to disguise her in human features without concentrating on the spell. The earrings, or earring the other having yet to have a spell bound to it, made it much easier for her to move freely about the university campus, and the city in general.
With the dome somehow interfering with her magic she decided she needed to invest some time into building some defensive magic arrays for herself. Trouble was the spell binding ritual seemed to require the use of certain elements that were rare or expensive; gold and silver, being the primary ones, with other elements playing a role in more specific bindings and enchantments. She'd managed to get copper wire, graphite, iron, and even mercury thermometers from the hardware store. She also managed to buy a few pounds of sterling silverware from consignment shop at a reasonable cost. She really hated stealing, preferring to work for what she needed, but gold, platinum, palladium, and diamonds were a little outside of her budget. Sometimes a girl just had to do what a girl had to do.
Salyna materialized in a smallish jewelry shop in downtown Metropolis that she’d checked out earlier. She had her face covered, and was dressed in full tactical gear. An instant after she materialized she twisted the mana around her to release an intense burst of electromagnetic radiation. The EMP fried all the electronics and power systems within about a six meter radius. She figured she had a couple minutes to collect the jewelry she was interested in and get out before anyone could respond.
She quickly began moving through the jewelry store breaking open the cases and collecting jewelry she wanted. She concentrated largely on heavier men's jewelry as they would supply the most raw materials, but also collected a few other items she thought she might be able to use as is. When it came to gems she concentrated mostly on smaller diamonds. Though, she also collected a few other stones. She was tempted to pick up a couple others that just looked pretty, but didn't want to get too greedy and fancy jewelry was really not her thing.
