When most people think of surviving a zombie attack, the first thing they imagine is getting fully loaded with every gun they can find, and busting caps into every ghoul they see. This couldn’t be any further from what one should really do.
First and foremost, I should make it clear as to exactly what the zombie virus is and how it spreads. The zombie virus is called the Solanum. There is no cure to the virus and a corpse will reanimate into a zombie at about 23 hours after he or she is first bitten. The infection can only infect your body with direct fluid contact, such as blood.
Secondly, one should know that using a weapon is only used in a last case scenario when it’s either fight or die. Now, when choosing a weapon everyone should think the general opposite of every zombie movie you’ve likely seen. Guns should be used sparingly if at all, as impracticability of a gun is overwhelming, though it might not seem so. Zombies are known to have excellent hearing. It is apparent that zombies do not act mainly upon sight as humans do, so their hearing abilities play an important role for them. They recognize all sounds, so the repetitious sound of a gun blast would not only attract close by ghouls, but all zombies within hearing distance to your whereabouts. So right after you dispatch for the zombie form which you shot, you can expect to come into contact with a whole barrage of them soon enough. As many of you already know, the only way to kill a zombie is by destroying the brain. So, in order to kill a zombie with a gun, you have to get a headshot, and odds are you have never even handled a gun before.
So what weapons should you use? Well, in my opinion, the crowbar is the best weapon for disposing of ghouls. The titanium crowbar in particular, as it is sturdier as well as lighter than steel ones. With this tool, you can not only smash through a zombie’s skull or eye-socket, but you can also open sealed doors and the like. Bladed weapons such as swords are good too use, but not the best.
Now that that is out of the clear, let’s talk about where to go. Chances are you live in a city. Cities are the most vulnerable to zombie attacks, as they have the densest population of humans. Once an infection starts in a crowded city it will quickly spread all over. Your best bet is to get as far away as possible to some mountain hold up. But, no matter where you are, you are not safe. If for some reason you can’t escape your home, one should fortify it as best possible. Barricade your windows and doors to your home as best as possible and get to the highest floor in your home. As zombies lack the coordination and brain power to figure out how to climb, destroy all staircases.
It is a common misconception that seeking refuge on an island is also safe. This is wrong. Since zombies do not need to breathe, they can walk along the bottom of the ocean. A ghoul’s sense of smell is great and they can smell human flesh from miles away, further if the wind is in their favor. They will always be directed to the smell of humans, as that is their only purpose. It may take weeks or even months, but eventually they will find their way to your shore.
I hope this could be of some assistance and knowledge into zombies, and can serve you with viable information if need be.
