Okay, here's my side. I'm completely disgusted with certain people.
Jas, you say we don't tell people what we did, well here's a transcipt of our conversation for all to see.
Glitter Spreader: hey jas :-)
jasujo00: hey
Glitter Spreader: erm there's something i need to talk to you about
jasujo00: okay
Glitter Spreader: well i've been talking to a few people on the forum and we'd all like more recognition for site staff members, not just forum staff members. sorry if i seem demanding, i'm just not used to asking for stuff lol
jasujo00: like what? you already have the Pink Inker title
jasujo00: aren't you listed on the main staff as well?
Glitter Spreader: not Pink Inkers
jasujo00: and yuo have your own usergroup
jasujo00: oh, what do you mean then?
Glitter Spreader: for example Jacob. i had no idea who he was until someone told me how hard he works for the site. i really didn't have any idea
Glitter Spreader: most forum members don't know what goes on behind the scenes. it'd be nice for people like Jacob to get some form of recognition on the forum, you know?
jasujo00: what does Jacob do?
jasujo00: is that his username?
Glitter Spreader: yeah, he's a newsposter on the main site
Glitter Spreader: but apparently, he works really hard
jasujo00: what are you asking for exactly?
Glitter Spreader: and he oversees the Neodex
Glitter Spreader: just more recognition. maybe a Site Staff title, maybe coloured stars, an announcement including people like Jacob on the forum. something like that
jasujo00: no colored stars. Jim set that ages ago. only forum staff get colored stars. a can see a title, though
jasujo00: the reason for the stars is that if someone on the forum has a problem, they can tell by the stars who they can go to
jasujo00: a site staff member wouldn't be much help with a forum problem
jasujo00: I'm not sure what the announcement would say? do you mean like just a thank you and they saying who does what?
Glitter Spreader: possibly. but what if a member had a problem with podcasting or newsposting or the neodex? they're all valid parts of the site and regular members wouldn't have a clue who to ask if they had a problem with those areas
jasujo00: there is a staff listing on the main page. they can easily find out who to contact there
jasujo00: well, stars wouldn't help. you can't exactly look up people by their stars and I can't see someone searching the whole forum for someone with different colors stars so they could get help
jasujo00: that's why we have the staff listing
jasujo00: it probably needs a good updating, though :/
Glitter Spreader: i just think they deserve more recognition, something they can wear with pride you know?
jasujo00: btw, what do you do on the site besides Pink Ink?
jasujo00: Kym has so many little side things, I'm usually the last to know lol
Glitter Spreader: nothing but don't ordinary members have a right to give suggestions?
jasujo00: we'd all like more recognition for site staff members, oh, when you said that, I thought you inclided yourself
Glitter Spreader: nope
jasujo00: okay, that's why I was confused lol
jasujo00: btw, did this idea come from talking to dan?
Glitter Spreader: not just dan, it's a few people if i'm going to be honest
jasujo00: who else is a site staffer that is having this problem? it'd help get a better perspective if I knew how many and what jobs want to be recognized more
jasujo00: it'd be easier to get a grasp of it all and fiddle with a solution
jasujo00: besides dan asking for a special usergroup ages ago, this is the first I've heard of this
Glitter Spreader: anyone who's a PIer, podcaster, newsposter, neodexer etc etc. there are SO many people who work hard behind the scenes and ordinary forum members have no idea who they are!
jasujo00: well, Pink Inkers already ahve a special title and their own usergroup. do they really want more?
Glitter Spreader: Dan, Cae, Spira, Alex, Jacob, all of the newsposters etc
jasujo00: they've all said they want more recognition?
Glitter Spreader: well i know a lot of Pink Inkers feel their efforts aren't recognised but don't include me in that lol i do it cause i enjoy it
jasujo00: I'm not understanding how they aren't recognized. are you saying forum staff is recognized more or that everyone in total needs to be recognized more?
Glitter Spreader: site staff members. people constantly thank the mods and the admins teams for all their hard work which is fantastic, we all know you guys work really hard for us but i like i said, most ordinary run-of-the-mill members don't know who else works hard
Glitter Spreader: so how can these people get thanked? i felt bad because i had no idea who Jacob was until someone told me all the work he does. i was shocked that there wasn't more recognition and thanks for his hard work on the forums
jasujo00: yeah, there things that don't go on that I don't know about because my main area is the forum, which is where my job is. I'm not admin of the whole site, so there's a lot I don't know about
Glitter Spreader: exactly, and if an admin don't know about it, how can ordinary members know too?
Glitter Spreader: i know you're just a forum admin and not a site admin but i think it's more about getting more FORUM recognition for SITE staff, you know?
jasujo00: but why? they aren't forum staff. they are site staff. I don't get special recognition in Pink Ink or the poodcast or the avatar catalog or the chat box. I just get recognition on the forum
jasujo00: in the PPT irc chat, they don't know me any different from Eve and I'm treated like a regular member with no special priveledges and modded just like anywhere else
Glitter Spreader: but don't forum members need to know who works hard? it's difficult for them to do thankless jobs
Glitter Spreader: and isn't the forum meant to be a meeting place for all site members?
jasujo00: I'm still unclear on what recognition they should have. an announcement is fine and all and to tell you the truth, I was thinking about having some sort of thank you announcement to everyone because this year the new year's post was missed
jasujo00: but an announcement is only there for so long and not everyone reads it
jasujo00: a special title is definitely doable, but it doesn't sound like that would be seen as good enough
Glitter Spreader: i don't think it's about privelledges or special treatment. it's just about getting something to say thank you, something that people can be proud of, something solid to say "yeah, i worked hard for that and here's my thank you"
Glitter Spreader: it's about acknoledging PPT is more than just a forum
jasujo00: I understand that, but I don't know how to do it
jasujo00: there is the staff listing that lists everyone. they can have titles. I don't know what more to do.
jasujo00: they can't have stars. I'm sorry about that :/
Glitter Spreader: could you at least consider it or take it to the admin team?
Glitter Spreader: I have to go now but thanks for listening
All I wanted was for my suggestion to be considered instead of a flat out "no". Not put in place but discussed and thought over.
Then I hear you've told people that I was annoyed about mods. Okay then, I'll just pretend the conversation with you on Thursday never happened. The where I accepted why I wasn't chosen for mod without question and then continued on to reassure you you'd made the right decision, try to comfort you when you were upset and tell you not to worry about everyone else. Yeah, that never happened. Same as you never said I was annoyed about mods.
If you think it was only fair to punish me because the others had been punished also, you are very much mistaken. I went about voicing my opinion in the right way. I wasn't mean, nasty, forceful or personal. Yet, I got this PM.
Twinkle,
As an administrator of PPT, I am very disappointed to have to send such a PM to a long standing member of the forum.
Your behavior and overall attitude during the events of Friday is unacceptable as a member's treatment towards the staff of the forum. Normally, we would ban on sight if this were to occur in any other case. However, after much discussion between us over the last few days, we realize that this isn't your normal behavior and warranting 2 strikes on these grounds.
If one of the factors of what occurred was bitterness towards the moderator applications, it was uncalled for. The process was under independent review by three different people, favoritism was never a factor in the choices we made as a team. I know there was more involved, but this seems to have been more of the catalyst of this matter.

Note the differences between mine, Dan's and Spira's. Nothing about friendship or getting through this. Just your generic, disposable, ordinary member response. And you know, that hurts more than anything.
In my opinion, the punishment was way too harsh for my behaivour. I never attacked Jas once. However, favouritism came strongly to mind when I read Dan's PM. Obviously Dan and Spira do way more around the forum than I but wasn't I Jas' friend too? So why the cold and harsh PM? I am frightened to even post my side of events in case I get a full ban. In which case, so be it. At least I can have my say in my PRIVATE journal.
And coming back to the mod thing, yes I was miffed at first, but I accepted Jas' explanation without question! I didn't kick up a fuss or whinge or moan about it. So why is my behaivour put down to me being annoyed about mods? Ever thought it could just be my own opinion?
Do I not have a right to make a suggestion as an ordinary forum member? I've heard people are saying I have no right to be mad because I'm not Site Staff myself. Just because I am not a staff member it should not mean I should not have a voice.
I was disgusted to read the chat log after I left. At least I know who my real friends are. Those people know who they are and Helen loves them long time.
But yeah, there's my side of it. Sorry if some of you feel I'm being a little harsh. I'm just sick to death of the accusations, confusion, arguements, bullshitting and lying.
Some of you need to have a real think of whether you're just following the pack blindly or listening to everyone's story and forming your own opinions.
If you read what I say and still think I'm in the wrong, so be it, but at least you know both sides now.
Thank you for reading. Helen.
