[If You're Not Into the Whole Brevity Thing...] Favorite Office Moments

May 16, 2013 12:36

Tonight is the series finale of The Office.
I started watching it with Brian, not from the very beginning, but I think we jumped in during the middle of Season 2. We would watch it together every Thursday and have pizza. One of our first trips together was to The Office Convention in Scranton in 2007. After Jim and Pam started dating and wore the numbers "15" and "6" in the episode Fun Run, I was convinced it was a sign that Brian and I were destined to be together because the numbers corresponded to our birthdays.

That illustrates two things: (1) I'm a little nuts, and (2) I took Jim and Pam's relationship VERY SERIOUSLY.
I'm not crazy about the direction the show has gone in the last few seasons and all the pointless characters they've added, so I'm not exactly sad that the show is ending now, but it's still a Big Deal.
I work until 9 tonight and I invited our friend Tom over to share in the viewing, so we're not actually watching the final episode until tomorrow night. So today I thought I'd share a list of some of my favorite moments, just for the sake of nostalgia. These are the moments that pop into my head at random times and make me laugh, or smile, or feel whatever the appropriate emotion may be.
1. Michael hits Meredith with his car.

2. Pam gets drunk at the Dundies and gets banned from Chili's.

3. Jim leaves Karen at a fountain in New York and drives back to Scranton to ask Pam out for dinner.
4. Jim and Pam at Casino Night.

5. Jim tells the camera that he bought Pam's engagement ring the week they started dating. Awwww.
6. Michael shows up at Pam's art show and buys her painting.

7. Kevin thinks Holly is in love with him, but really, Holly thinks Kevin is mentally challenged.
8. The Michael Scott Paper Company. That whole story line.

9. Dwight conducts a fire drill by starting a real fire. Best cold open ever.

10. Dwight mercy kills Angela's cat.

11. Toby opens up to Michael about his parents' divorce, and Michael shoves Toby's food off the table and walks away.
12. While they're all trapped in the office park, Toby awkwardly rubs Pam's knee and then announces he's moving to Costa Rica before jumping the fence and running home.

13. Michael reads Dwight's list of complaints about Jim's pranks. "This morning I knocked myself in the head with the phone."

14. Michael kisses Oscar.

15. Pretty much anytime Creed talks.
Oscar: Hey, where's Dwight?
Jim: You didn't hear?
Creed: Decapitated. Whole big thing. We had a funeral for a bird.
Jim: I'm pretty sure none of that's real.
Creed: I'm not offended by homosexuality. In the 60s I made love to many, many women - often outdoors in the mud and the rain - and it's possible that a man slipped in. There'd be no way of knowing.
