Luke is at that age where he babbles constantly and it's possible to have a conversation with him as long as you don't mind that nothing he says makes any sense. What he lacks in clarity he makes up for with enthusiasm, and it's totally adorable. You can tell by his expression whether he's talking about fun times, or telling Daddy about all the boring things Mommy insisted on doing that day. And he loves to laugh. Often for no discernible reason. Which can sometimes be creepy.
But, he does say a few real words with some regularity. Like:
-Dada and Mama, obviously.
-Ball. And I thought he understood exactly what this meant until the other day when he screamed, "BALL!" at me until I handed him an orange. But that's close, I suppose.
-Banana.
-Hello.
-Bye.
-Night night.
-All done.
-He signs "more" perfectly which makes me wish I had taught him more sign language.
-He counts with me but "two" and "eight" are usually the only words that sound right.
He's been known to quack on demand and click like a dolphin. Valuable life skills!
One day last week when I picked him up from my mom's house after work, he said, "ABCD!" as I buckled him into his car seat. And I thought, "No, I imagined that." Usually when I try to get him to repeat letters he will say "A" and then just stare at me. But the next day my mom said he did it again. Apparently they watch Super Why at her house, and there's a pig who sings the alphabet, and Luke tried to sing along. It should probably make me feel terrible that I couldn't teach Luke the alphabet, but this pig could.
