"Good afternoon."

A hand holding a single white rose appeared in front of Subaru's face, aptly followed by the rest of Sakurazuka Seishirou who stepped out from behind the young man like an illusionist. There was a smile on his face that suggested that he was halfway between pleased and...very pleased.

Subaru didn't flinch at the familiar voice and the hand that appeared in front of his nose- instead, his eyes only widened slightly, as he hadn't expected Seishirou to appear... well, out of the shadows, to sound cliché.

His head flicked slightly to look at Seishirou, before his eyes swivelled back to the rose, lifting a hand to take it from him, fixated on it for a moment, spinning it between his fingers. "A-Ah. Good afternoon, Seishirou-san," he said eventually. "T-Thank you," he added in regards to the rose, bowing his head slightly.

The man grinned. There was slight disappointment, having not received the customary stammer-and-blush reaction, but all in itself, this wasn't a bad way to start the afternoon.

"Well, I am glad to have the honor of your company today, Subaru-kun," Seishirou commented. "Not to say that the our meetings at night have not been enjoyable thus far, but a daytime rendezvous is nice change, hmm?"

Subaru nodded, his eyes continously trailing back to the rose (there seriously had to be something to do with him and flowers), before he finally managed to fixate his gaze up at the other man. "Y-Yes. It will- be a nice change," he agreed. He suddenly thought that he was calmer, for some reason- calmer than he had been for several days. Not nervous about almost going feral at all; at least for now.

"S-Shall we?" he suggested, looking down at the emptying street, now with only the cherry blossoms for company.

"Yes, that sound like a good idea," Seishirou answered, taking a step in the direction the other had been looking. Fleetingly he wondered whether there was something bothering Subaru, other than his hunger. He was far less nervous, completely lacking the air of a bird that wanted to fly away as fast as he could.

Seishirou chuckled faintly; he was probably overimagining things.

For a moment he didn't move, until he followed suit after Seishirou, walking in pace alongside him, his attention back on the rose and twirling it with his fingers.

He wasn't really thinking about much in particular- he was just transfixed by the rose itself. It seemed like him.. fragile but also dangerous from the thorns, could break at any minute from someone dragging him away and ripping him apart...

Subaru suddenly realised he wasn't being responsive and that he hadn't really being paying attention, so blinked twice. "Ah, g-gomen nasai," he said apologetically, red finally tinting his cheeks. "I was... distracted."

At the look of slight embarassment on Subaru's face, Seishirou laughed. He placed a hand on the boy's shoulder. "That's fine. If I knew that a little rose would distract you, I would have brought you flowers more often. What's your favorite type, Subaru-kun?"

"MFlowers?" Subaru looked thoughtful, his eyes glazing over slightly. "... I'm.. not sure. Lillies, cherry blossom, roses... anything, I suppose," he replied, blinking a couple of times as his eyes returned to normal colour. "I've never... really thought about it."

"I quite like sakura blossoms, as you might have noticed," he laughed to himself. "And roses as well. They both suit you." Something pleasently dark welled up inside him, and he smiled.

Seishirou quickly recovered the flower from Subaru's grasp. "I'm sorry, it looks like I forgot to take the thorns off. I'll do that for you."

"Yes," Subaru replied to the thing about sakura. Seishirou and cherry blossoms... they always seemed to be the foretelling of the other. Always. "A-Ah, it's alright, they- they don't hurt, or any-" Subaru started, as the flower was retrieved from his grasp and he was suddenly holding thin air. "I-I mean.. thank you," once again, he bowed his head slightly, humbly, and his face tinted.

He looked back at the sky- and the cherry blossom that was now swirling around them as they walked. "Bright pink.." he said slowly.

Absently, Seishirou snapped each sharp thorn from the rose's stem, watching the way Subaru's attention drifted off the the sakura petals, as if captivated. It pleased him to think that the younger might be the person to simply admire the beauty of such a flower, or that perhaps it was nothing more than the subconscious pull of the tree's darker aspects, the reason the petals were soft shade of pink, the reason for the slight flush over the boy's cheeks.

"Yes, a nice color, isn't it?" he mused aloud, mostly for Subaru's benefit. Feeling a slight prick at his finger tip, he looked down in time to watch a small bead of blood well up. He sighed at himself. Perhaps carelessness was catching. It was a good thing Subaru-kun was so distracted.

He handed the flower back to his company, thorn-free.

"It is," he agreed. Automatically, Subaru took the flower back from Seishirou... before that... that slight drop of blood filled up into his vision and.. god, the smell. Pouring into his nose like something he just had to... devour. No matter how distracted he was or what be- with how hungry he was right now, there was no way that was going to be void of his attention.

But he couldn't; not now, not here, not to Seishirou. No. His face became still and fixated ahead of him, though glancing up at Seishirou: his feet managed to keep walking. All in all he looked fine, normal, like he usually did.

Save for his eyes. Gold, liquid eyes.

The walk continued in silence for a couple minutes, Seishirou allowing Subaru a brief reprise from the constant chatterbox that was himself for some quiet thought. What now? That was the question. What now that the hunter had caught up with the hunted? There was something about the ageless young man that was so terribly intriguing. Why would someone willingly return to the side of another with the power to hurt them...again?

Yet... that was one of Subaru's more admirable qualities, in its own way.

Seishirou watched the unsettling stillness that drew over the vampire. It was not particularly alarming, as it was unusual. For lack of a better description, Subaru's movements were usually birdlike, graceful but with small, unsure motions. Here they were so concentrated.

"Subaru-kun, are you feeling well? Perhaps you would like to sit down."

".. I'm fine," Subaru replied after a short pause, though his voice sounded weak and his fixation on just getting those two words out clear. He didn't trust himself to say anything else; even if the slight, invisible wound was now long gone, that didn't stop the smell that could easily lead him from anywhere.

He was usually more controlled than this. And he knew why he wasn't.

His eyes flicked up to Seishirou, still gold and deadly, though green seemed to be coming back slowly. "I'm fine, Seishirou-san. Do.. do not worry about me."

Subaru's words, on their own, would sound convincing; but his tone of voice lacked the conviction he wanted it to have. His words sounded more like a silent plea for help than anything else.

A small, exasperated chuckle escaped Seishirou's lips, which considering the situation, might have been a little cruel. He shook his head. "Ah, Subaru-kun. I do hope you're being honest."

He stopped his pace and lowered himself to Subaru's eye level, then smiled. "I'm sorry. I am a worrywart, but I'd hate for something to happen. Remember, I promised to help you."

"... I know," Subaru replied quietly, his eyes flicking to look down at Seishirou's face rather than his face. He dared himself to look up, but it didn't happen. If it did, he'd... lose sense of himself, definately. "But I can't..." he trailed off. He should tell him, shouldn't he? He'd promised to help... he seemed genuinely worried, didn't he? So she should.

He breathed in a few times before he finally spoke. ".. there's nothing.. that I can think of. We're... both running out of options, and I... I..." his voice became quieter. "I'm losing control."
