Watanuki was fiddling nervously with the corner of his apron as he sat in the kitchen. Hopefully Yuuko-san was appeased enough with the snacks and he would be able to just leave when--er, gods, that' ( Read more... )

Yuuko smirked, knowing that both of them had started to leave. She figured she'd just let them go for tonight and leave them alone.

Just for tonight. "Have fun Watanuki~!" She shouted to him, her smirk spreading into a grin. Yes, she'd let him leave. Just for the sake of having a good laugh. it was then she asked herself: Was she being to lenient? Maybe.

Yuuko shrugged, the grin still in place. She'd get them later.

Watanuki couldn't help but spazz at the sound of Yuuko-san's voice--regardless of if it was saying "have fun~" or "get yer ass back in here and make me some more drinking snacks!!" Ah, but speaking of which...

The boy paused at the door as he slipped on his shoes. "There are some extra snacks prepared for you, Yuuko-san! And you can just heat up the left overs for the breakfast tomorrow." He rose to his feet and stepped out of the door. But just because he closed it, Watanuki poked his head back inside and called, "Don't drink too much and call me tomorrow demanding hang over medicine!!" With that, he shut the door and jogged after Doumeki.

When he caught up with the archer, the smaller figure fell into pace beside him and clutched his bag and bentou with both hands. "Happy belated birthday," he said, looking up with a small smile. "Have you eaten dinner yet? Is there anything you want?"

Doumeki waited for the pale boy to catch up with him before turning the corner once they had pass the front gate. He reached one hand to take the bentou out of the seer's hands, picking the newly freed hand in his.

He looked sideways at his boyfriend as the other male and thought of what to answer. He was pretty sure Watanuki would be insulted to know that he considered the instant ramen he ate after his archery practice as 'dinner'. Beside, even if he wasn't hungry now, he knew he could easily eat anything the seer would cook. What did he wanted now?

The archer smiled slightly as he stopped walking, pulling the frail arm gently, bring the smaller body closer to him. He leaned down and softly kissed Kimihiro, not caring at all that they were surrounded by other people. There was only one thing that he wanted.

"You..." he whispered, their lips brushing against each others.

The moment the words left his mouth, Shizuke realized the meaning they could have hold. He had not meant it like that (well, maybe a little and it was all ( ... )

Watanuki looked hesitantly from side to side as Doumeki grabbed his hand. They were in a public street! What would they think if they saw two guys holding hands? And kissing and--

"Me?" the boy gulped back, the blood draining into his cheeks as he flushed in embarrassment. "You can't just request me for dinner, stupid!" Watanuki hissed, stomping his foot and glaring up at the archer. This wasn't one of the first times he found himself wondering just how differently the two of them perceived their... relationship (whatever kind it might be and might end up being). But really, Watanuki really wished that stupid Doumeki wouldn't say such stupid things like that!

With another glare, Kimihiro reached out and snatched his bentou back from the other male's grip. "Fine. Mizutaki it is. But don't think I'm going to take that earlier comment lightly." Sniffling indignantly, the boy turned and continued to walk towards the temple.

The archer couldn't help and shake his head with a soft chuckle at Watanuki's outburst. He knew that clarifying that he hadn't meant him as his dinner wouldn't change the smaller huffy mood, so he said nothing, simply walking in time with him.

The walk to his temple felt oddly familiar, despite the lack of rain and the sting on his cheek. The seer at his side was as nervous, but probably for different reasons Doumeki reasoned.

They turned the corner of the temple's entrance before long and Shizuka opened the door for Kimiharo. He had to stop himself from stealing a kiss from the smaller boy as he brushed past him to close the door. He took off his shoes and leaned against the door as he watched the other male do so.

The boy fumbled with his shoes for a moment, feeling Doumeki's gaze on him even if he wasn't looking at the archer. Did the oaf just constantly have to watch him? It was making him uneasy! Without stopping, Watanuki tucked his shoes against the ledge and continued on his way into the kitchen. He placed his bag and bentou on the table and turned his attention to the fridge.

Argh, damn it why was he feeling so nervous?! It was normal for him to feel agitated around Shizuka in the first place, but now... he found a different name for the agitation and a different cause. Just the thought made his hands shake slightly, and so Watanuki decided to distract himself from those thoughts with trying to prepare the mizutaki.

"Get out the skillet," he ordered gruffly without looking over his shoulder. Kimihiro washed his hands before washing the vegetables and began to slice them up into perfectly formed and reasonably sized pieces.

Shizuka followed the other boy to the kitchen and frowned slightly. It was evident that Kimihiro was overly nervous and it still escaped the archer as to why. He was on the verge to ask about it when the smaller boy asked for the cooking instrument ( ... )

When Watanuki had finished preparing the vegetables and cutting of the meat into perfectly sized strips, he arranged them artistically on a serving tray. He turned, tray in hand, to go set up the ingredients on the table when he found Doumeki standing there. Staring at him.

With a characteristic frown, the wiry boy stood his ground and tried to put his hands on his hips--only to find that they were still busy carrying the tray. "Well?" Watanuki demanded, resting his weight on one leg in annoyance. "What? Why are you staring at me like that?" A frustrated blush colored his cheeks slightly.

The archer smiled softly, amused by the other boy's reaction: only Watanuki could get annoyed by being watched by him. He had not meant to stare, and he shook his head slightly:

"No reason" he simply replied as he moved from the counter to get the plates and chopsticks in order to help the seer in setting up the table.

Once again he walked by Kimihiro and this time he stopped, using one hand to gently tip back the smaller male's head as Shizuka leaned down to claim his lips again. With his hands full with the serving tray, there was no way the seer would spazz now like he had done in the street moments ago. Taking advantage of the situation, Shizuka gave him a long, slow kiss, his other hand reaching up to gently rub Kimihiro's back.

Watanuki gave an annoyed grumble through the kiss, his cheeks heating up even more. His hands tightened their grip on the tray, and he was unsure if he wanted his hands free to either flail or to wrap around the archer's neck. "That's cheating, you jerk," he murmured, a small shiver racing up his spine as he felt Doumeki's hand against his back.

With a grumpy, not really serious frown and a 'hmph', Kimihiro pulled away and stalked over towards the table--carefully setting down the tray and busying himself with fixing the arrangement of the vegetables and meat on the tray before moving back into the kitchen. He grabbed the skillet, searching for a moment for a heater to place it on.

After that was set up on the table, the bespectacled boy finally turned back towards Doumeki, holding a bottle of oil and two small bowls for sauce in either hand. He frowned, studying the other male for a moment. Why does he always have such a stupid expression on his face? Watanuki wondered briefly. The boy leaned in closer, frown deepening in thought ( ... )

Doumeki smiled at Watanuki's words. Despite the annoyed sound he had made, it was evident to the archer that the seer had not hated the shared kiss, the flustered face and shiver being indicators of it ( ... )

"That wasn't cheating," Watanuki returned sharply. "That was called... experimenting." He remained standing as he skillfully arranged the skillet over the heater and some oil onto the heating surface. Once he was done with that, the boy looked up--his expression lacking the twitchy frown. His bi-colored eyes slowly passed around the room before settling on the archer ( ... )

"I'm not an airhead," Watanuki returned automatically in a sharp voice as he continued to arrange the food in the skillet. The smell of the steak was already wafting around the room. He kept his gaze away from Shizuka's as he cooked the food carefully--concentrating on not overcooking the vegetables and the meat ( ... )

Doumeki let Watanuki's word sink in, watching the skilled hands working the vegetables and the meat. He trusted the other male to never give up on himself. The seer had changed over time and Shizuka was more and more certain that the bi-color eyed boy had understood that he was important to other people and that self-sacrifice was not always the best solution.

As he felt the small hand curled around his, the archer looked up and twisted his fingers around Watanuki's, squeezing it gently. The next words left him truly speechless. He felt a wave of warmth spread through his body and his heart felt so light that it seemed to be filled with helium. In the back of his mind, he couldn't think of a better birthday gift then what Kimihiro had just said.

Leaning forward as he pulled softly on the seer's hand, he brushed his lips against Kimihiro's.

"Aah" he simply said before kissing his boyfriend properly, sealing the silent promise he had just made to him.

Watanuki returned the kiss shyly, gripping Shizuka's hand in his own. He wasn't too sure how easy that promise would be, or how likely he was to start stumbling along the way. But he could tell that Doumeki would be with him the whole way, and that made him happy.

The boy pulled back, a bright smile on his face. He sat that way for a few seconds before he suddenly jumped and turned to look at the skillet. "Ah! I'm burning some of the vegetables!" he whined, quickly reaching out and pulling out the wilting greens. "Ahh I guess we can start eating..." Watanuki muttered nervously, giving a small laugh and bringing up his small plate to serve himself.
