The last few days

Been a little stressful to say the least. But it's a good kind of stressful.

I got a call right before Passover from a former boss of mine - from the job I left after only one month to go work for a Ponzi schemer. He was very kind and congratulated me on the article Inside Business wrote about my web site. Then, he asked me if I was available to do some projects for him and started hinting at bringing me back.

Last week, I sat down with him and he contracted me to create a marketing plan for him, due today at 5pm. It was a difficult task and the pay is a bit lower than I would normally take for a freelance job, but I took it because there was still a bit of hinting that he may re-hire me.

Today, I finished the plan and turned it in five hours early. It's not perfect, but per the scope of work, I was asked to produce a "First Draft." I tried to be as comprehensive as possible and make good use of the hard work my former co-workers had already done. I don't know if he'll love it or hate it. I just can't predict that. I tried to follow the scope of work as closely as possible. The end result was a 20-page word document in 12-point type and a July 1 to June 30 fiscal year calendar with week-by-week details.

If he offers me my job back, I'll be well on my way to repairing my broken career. If he hates it, I won't be stepping into a difficult, challenging marketing situation. If he's gets all indecisive, my hourly fee is going up to something more in line with what I'm used to charging.

It's all in G-d's hands, that's for sure. The fact the this person called me in the first place is somewhat of a clear indicator that G-d wants me to work there. We'll see.

In the meantime, I've also been offered a spot as a columnist for Parcbench.com, the up-and-coming social site for conservatives. The site's founder is also the New York Tea Party organizer. He's very well connected and he likes The Endive. I'm going to put together a weekly column for him on making fun of pop culture. I plan on writing the first column today, and if he likes it, it'll keep going from there and my online reach will expand big time.
