Soooo, I haven't written in a while.
Here goes.
Yesterday was Heather's (not-so-)monumental 20th birthday. And yes, I'm still freaking out that my best friend is TWENTY years old. Weird much?
I was feeling a bit under the weather, starting at about the time I was doing my hair. I sneezed, and sneezed, and sneezed. I sneezed again. I took some allergy medicine, and kept sneezing some more, and then felt a bit better. As I was putting on my makeup, I noticed my eyes were red. So did Heather.
"Your eyes are red," she says.
"Allergies."
But apparently not.
So we went to Disneyland. Throughout the morning - which consisted of getting there, getting Heather's complimentary birthday ticket (I very strongly suggest you all register your birthdays on Disneyland.com, even if you might not go.), and walking around in Innoventions in the future home - my left eye began to be more and more irritated. By the time we got to the future home, I was turning down all the lights with the awesome home control panels that were mounted on the walls, because my eye was very sensitive to light. (by the way...I WANT THAT HOME)
I knew I should take my contacts out, and I had even brought my glasses with me because of my eye irritation that morning, but the question was: should I take my contacts out to help my eye get better, but have to put my glasses on and not be able to wear sunglasses to protect my eyes from the light? When we left the park to get Vanessa, Heather's sister, I took my contacts out and left them in the gutter. I decided to put the sunglasses back on, and walk around Disneyland basically blind for the rest of the day. (It's not like I was gonna miss anything, I have a pass.)
It got so bad, that I had to cut the day short at around six and do my best to make it home alive. Yeah, it hurt reallyyy badly. I felt like it was kind of ruining the day for everyone, anyway. Heather could get a ride home at nine with her dad, who was coming to pick Vanessa up anyway. It was sad she'd have to leave a few hours earlier, but at least she didn't have to leave with me.
The driving scared me, but I decided I'd have to tough it out and open my eye for that one. I put my glasses on under the sunglasses, and thanked God that the sun had gone down already. Unfortunately, the Honda Center (formerly the Pond) had other plans, and as the only way I knew to get home was down Katella, I had to pass right by it. I don't know what event was going on last night, and I don't care enough to look it up, but the traffic almost killed me. Like really, seriously almost killed me.
Because of my eyes I had a headache. Because of my headache I felt tired. Really tired, and was terrified of falling asleep. I had turned the heater on, because I was cold, but now I was turning it off and rolling the windows down in hope that the cold would keep me from drifting off as I inched my way forward. Every once in a while a car would get in just the wrong position, so that their too-bright headlights shone right in my eye from my side-view mirror, and my stomach began to ache. I pictured myself throwing up in my passenger seat. It wasn't pretty, so I tried very hard not to.
What seemed like hours later, I was past the madness and finally home. I was almost crying. I really did think I was gonna die last night. Or something. I washed my eye out with eyewash, put some soothing drops in, and turned out every single light in my bedroom and went to bed early. I barely even bothered to put pajamas on, I just took my pants off. Until, that is, my brother interrupted my nap, asking to use the laptop. Well, I had to put pajamas on to answer my door.
My mom was going to take me to the clinic to get some prescription eye drops, but it seems the rest was what I needed most. Today I feel almost just fine. My eye's still a little red, and hurts a little in direct sunlight and if you touch it, but I'm okay, and I think it'll get better.
So, Robert and the girls are over, and Ashley and Maddy just got here, and I've had a pretty awesome day. I got to squish around in raw meatloaf, but then my dad wanted pizza to reward everyone for their hard work hauling yunk to the Yunkyard. So I went and picked some up from Valentino's, and we'll make the meatloaf tomorrow. :]
In other news, I've got some great new ideas for my story, so I'm trying to be serious and devote some time to writing.
ETA: On the plus side, the red in my eye really brings out the green of it. No one could mistake them for blue while I have pinkeye. Unfortunately, they're Christmas colors, which, yes, only look good at Christmastime.
