***Hi-Ho Hi-Ho Off To Work We Go***
There's a conspiracy. I know exactly who the Disney writer was before he wrote that song for the seven dwarves. He was a pimp. Explains it doesn't it? Hi Ho, Hi Ho, off to work we go. He obviously had two hos. Amazing what people can do with their careers isn't it? One minute you're a pimp, the next you're a musical director and lyricist for Walt Disney.

So anyways, I've finished vac work at KPMG, which has been... mmm.. well at first I was worried not so much about the work or about the people, but that I've wasted 5 years of my life at uni, and if I were so negative, 2 years of highschool studying accounting. Luckily, it has been quite the contrary and in a slightly sad way, I think this is what I'm supposed to do.

It's been really interesting too with the facebook networks. It's a really small world. It's also scary too having some people being able to read your wall... or maybe your journals... cuz who knows about the things I say and how people would interpret them. Like if I talked about this amazing person I met and somehow they knew I was talking about them.. lol wow wouldn't that be embarassing *cough cough*. Who reads these indeed hahahaha, was that evil?

and that's enough about my life.. back to what I use to do..

***Promises Promises***
OK Before I go into what I usually do, gotta say it's really been too long. I'll try come back to my LJ. I have a lotta music I wanna catalogue, but also a lot I wanted to get off my chest. When IP next dies down I'll be updating this again.. hopefully soon!!
Look out for thoughts on lies, net neutrality, US Presidential campaigns, my new baby (ooh how ambigious) and much much more!! haha

***Music Overload***
I've had a huge music overload. This is cuz I did something dumb - I promised I wouldn't load any new music onto my ipod until I did my LJ (OMG last entry was November). Subsequently, I have 20-30 new albums and singles and a crap load of music videos to file away and archive. Luckily, a lot of these are repeat artists.. and surprisingly a lot of them have been really good. So I'll try keep these short, and maybe upload a few things or just do my usual youtube.

A*sia - Vol1. Babycat

1. Follow A.Sia (feat. MBP)
2. My Love (feat. MBP)
3. Can U...
4. 모르겠어 (feat. 최현준 in V.O.S)
5. Kiss & Say Goodbye (feat. Master Chang)
6. Guess Who? (feat. 예지)
7. Babycat
8. 거짓말.. (Little Lise..)
9. 모르겠어 Part 2 (Suen Solo)
10. After Club
11. Don't Let Me Down
12. 오늘하루만 (Sion Solo)
13. Onlytonight (feat. David)
14. 세상의 중심에서 너를...

In the period of female vocal groups flooding the Korean market, A*SIA unfortunately don't particularly stand out. They don't have the youthful cuteness of Kara or the extremely powerful set of harmonic vocals of CSJH. With the fairly standard composition of a rapper and 3 singers, they don't really hold much of a torch to Brown Eyed Girls. I guess it doesn't hurt to listen to a wider variety though.

Bae Seul Ki - Flying

1. Flying
2. 다가와 (Come To Me)
3. 비가 오던 날 (A Rainy Day)
4. 슬기 Say (Seul Ki Say)
5. 왠지 모르게 (Somehow I Don't Know)
6. Right Now
7. 사랑아 어떡한거니 (What did you do Love?)
8. Ride with me
9. 너 왜그래 (Why Are You Like That)
10. 이별과 가위는 서로 닮았다 (Separation And Scissors Are Alike)
11. Crazy Party
12. 다가와 (Come To Me) Inst.

What an amazing little re-discovery. Going by the cover art of her latest album Flying, Bae Seul Ki looks innocent yet cheekily cute, which by any accounts of her previous albums would be true to the music. This album is something else though on multiple levels. The albums hits the ground running from the very start, with a short intro which sets the tone of the album with a strong and fast dance melody whilst Seul Ki laughs and asks if we're ready.. and the short answer to that is yes. I'm already hooked. Her tracks flow effortlessly through various types of Kpop, to ones with an urban edge (I'm Coming, Ride With Me, Seul Ki Say), to latin melodies (Right Now) and to soft ballads (What Happened Love, Without Knowing), Seul Ki lays down the tracks with immaculate smoothness, whilst maintaining this level of playful energy that radiates through each song. Revitalising from Seul Ki with this new direction, I can't wait for more.

J - Various
Talk about hard to find. Attempt searching things on the internet with a single letter.. here's advice to music artists: use a name that's easy to search. Things like Black or Orange are BAD names.. BAD and single letters of the alphabet may make you seem mysterious and cool, but no. BAD! I was first interested in J when she released her digital single Nunmullo (With Tears). For months I listened to her duet with Lee Jung and loved it. Now, I finally have some of her albums.. all in one slab. Is it a good thing? Mmmm hard to say. Much like listening to Hwayobi whom I love and adore with all my heart, having 4 of her albums playing together makes it hard to tell which album I like best. Another point is the type of song covered, though J covers R&B and touches a little on hip-hop and even some techno, sounding songs. J is much the same, her voice is light but powerful when she wants to use it (which you can probably tell by the way that is phrased she doesn't do it enough). Luckily she has often backed by some big names in the Korean music industry. Her duets are just amazing, providing a soulful blend of music to any collaboration.

Sweet sweet Maybee.. her voice is very simple, she doesn't try to do much with it. Everything she sings though fits perfectly with her voice, the strange thing is it took her so long to come out by herself as an artist. Maybee can be attributed to many big names in Korean music; she is a reknowned lyricist namely for her work for Lee Hyori <3 (who I just realised I haven't done anything on)

Mondo Grosso - Various
Mondo Grosso is a Japanese composer who collabs with many artists.. he does a lotta work ranging from Jazz to Techno. He composed for the PSP game Lumines (which is crazily addictive). A lotta his tracks, when not extremely fast paced, have a chilled out and laid back latin feel to it. I love his stuff, some of it is really trancey and just so mind blowing.

The Name - This is The Name
Just to balance it out.. haha some male vocalist. I've reviewed The Name before and it wasn't the GREATEST review.. so I gave him another chance. I think I'll stick to what I said though, it's still very samey and even though it's good, he hasn't shown any semblance of variety or versatility.

The korean hip-hop duo of the 90s consisting of Tasha and Annie were an amazing group, pioneers of Korean hip-hop that were unfortunately short lived. Coming out with one amazing album and 3 hit singles, Tashannie's tunes are still going strong today through DDR and covers by other artists. In fact, the reason I was drawn to Tashannie was from Lim Jeong Hee's cover of their most famous song Haru Haru (Day by Day). The main vocalist and singer of this group is Tasha Reid (aka T/Yoon Mi Rae) with Annie Lee (aka Lee Ann Su) providing an amazing set of feminine rap. Surprising since Tasha is undisputedly the pioneer of rap and hip-hop in Korea, but I'm not complaining because I find Annie's rapping really sexy with that husky voice of hers. Both ladies have perfect English; Baby T's father is a black American, where the issue of racism is touched on with her come-back solo album in 2007. Needless to say, she draws on these experiences to provide some really emotional R&B. On another note, Annie was part of FinKL before their debut, but left and gave her spot to Hyori Lee.

But here I go off track again, I guess the point is they're an amazing group, a little lacking in performance style, but you have to remember this is from the 90s. So here is, Tashannie
