Wow, it's been a while since my last propper update or at least it feels like it.
Jazz the horse I went to see with Steph is now Steph's horse and arrived at her new home on Sunday. She's a really lovely little horse, I think she's going to be fantastic. She definately seems to have a lot more American paint horse traits than Thoroughbred. Steph's working on doing some ground work with her at the moment, long lining her, moving her around, scratching her, grooming her and getting to know her. She's hopefully going to start backing her soon. It's all very exciting! I went to see her on Sunday just after she arrived and watched her trot off into the field for the first time...she wasn't bothered...just stuck her head down and started eating. She's met Fred over the fence and hopefully they'll be able to go out into a field together soon. I don't reckon they'll be any problems, Fred loves other horses (especially playing with them!!) and she doesn't seem terribly bothered by anything.
Can't wait till Steph starts competing...!! We're trying to think of a name to register her under at the moment. Her previous owners were going to register has as Razzmatazz All That Jazz...not sure if we'll stick with that or change it...it's quite funky though.
I'm doing pretty well at the moment. Seem to have got over my blip now and the chinese herbs my accupuncturist has started me seem to be helping. She made up a prescription for me the last time I went and at first I couldn't really see a difference. Then when I was out at the yard on Sunday I was a little shocked to find that after about 15 minutes of standing up I wasn't looking for somewhere to sit down or feeling like the muscles in my legs had been replaced with jelly. I felt like I could do more, but I didn't want to push it just incase there was less in the battery than I thought. Since then I've noticed a definate increase in my strength, both arms and legs and the 'led legs' feeling has eased off a bit.
However having said all that, I seem to have forgotten that a lot of the muscles in my body have suffered from lack of use. Apparently kneeling down to plant herbs uses muscles in my legs that I haven't used in some time...they are happily letting me know this and today I am hobbling around like I've just got off a horse after a long ride.
Also 10 days till Harry Potter comes out!!! I am sooooo excited about it, but terrified I'll end up getting spoiled or that I'm going to end up an emotional wreck after reading it (very probable). I've been reading these books since I was 13 so it's wierd that the story is going to come to an end, I've kind of grown up with these characters and got ridiculously attached to them and the story in the process. It's like the end of a chapter of my life in some ways and it's going to be wierd once it's over. I do have a tendency to get way too absorbed in things and Harry Potter is perhaps my greatest weakness when it comes to that...I really do live and breath the story like it's real when I'm reading it...so I think it's going to be hard to let it go.
