i don't have the link any more, but the trailer for elementary (US!sherlock holmes) seems interesting... it's definitely one of those "adapted from" sort of films, because it really doesn't give off the same vibes as bbc!sherlock.

think i'll watch it when it comes out :D

thought it interesting that House MD just ended and this will take the place of the whole american sherlock genre. :)..does it count as American if Sherlock is still British?

have you given it a try now? yeah i agree on the clothing similarities, but watching the first few episode it's definitely a completely different take on the sherlock series.

it's much more about the relationship between the two main characters than the cases? BBC!sherlock is much more about sherlock being brilliant and noticing things that other people can't, but elementary is much more about how sherlock and watson learn to deal with each other and the rest of society.
