The moderators/owners decided to delete it after some correspondence with a few companies. There's a bit more information about it here and the few posts before and after it.

it involved legal issues, LJ, and just a sudden closure of the community. some people are saying it's just weird how it got deleted without any warning (the starry sky comm gave a 24hr warning) while others are just feeling sad for the community and thinking of new comms and all.

Randomly, wasn't Kuroshitsuji = Yen Press sending them a letter and all?

Or is Starry Sky comm's closure because of the main company?

starry sky was due to honey bee sending a C&D to them.

:c Sucks.

Though, I wonder if it's because they're in talks with a company for its licensing or what? :/

At least they gave a 24 hour notice! The Kuroshit comm, the original one, didn't even give users that...

If it's for the anime, it still doesn't make much sense. A lot of communities have been up and around from when the series started to when the anime is licensed and are much more popular (hetalia for example).. And since the 'main' part of starry sky are the CDs, I don't see that being licensed any time soon (unless of course they decide to include translations of the whole CD..)

Yeah I know, I'm really grateful on that had a lot of stuff to download from them and would've been like a day or two late if they didn't give notice. The kuroshitsuji comm was just mean T___T

I find myself a bit more bothered by Kuroshitsuji too, especially since hearsay is that Yen Press was responsible for it.

They shared new chapter scans/scanlations, but they shouldn't have been sharing stuff released over the States. (At least, that's just common sense in LJ comms... ) So, I don't see why Yen Press should have C&D'd them. I mean, legally, they can, but that's like squishing the fans.... (it's pretty much normal practice and helps keep the fandom alive anyway D: )

hmmm.. interesting. hopefully, this isn't a widespread thing against fandoms. hard to keep a community alive without scans and anime sharing. *sigh*
