SO. today was election day in HK. not something like president or chief executive type polling, coz hey, we can't vote for that :D
it was just your normal legco (legislative council) by-election :) only there was 2 "ah tais" (aunts, literally. but IRL? 2 very famous ex-civil servants) and like.. 6 other minor people.
so i could vote, who would i choose?
#1. Vote? NO.
-he can't speak cantonese, let alone english.
-although his election platform thing seems good, the spacing is crap. at least there's english.
#2. Vote? NO.
-he's a f-ing lawyer/wahtever. does he not know ENGLISH?
-"legal" is not really an occupation in my eyes.
-his handwriting sucks. it's only slightly better than mine.
#3. Vote? NO.
-the chinese thing? it's okay. the english "translation"? pathetic.
-and his flyer thingymabob. 100% CHINESE. I WANT ENGLISH.
#4. Vote? No.
-her english and chinese slogan/whatever don't match. "the true blah blah blah" =/= "i'm true to myself". and she boasts she's from stanford :P
-the next bit has no english.
-the slogan on her posters were... laughable. "i'll do better than my best!" -______-
+the only reason why i might have voted for her was coz we share first names, abeit with one letter difference :P
#5. Vote? NO.
-obviously. NO ENGLISH.
#6. Vote? YES :D
+the english is GOOD. VERY GOOD.
+i like her ideas. SCREW MINIMUM WAGE. AND HK GOV SHOULD GET OUT OF OUR ECONOMY T_T
#7. Vote? Yes.
+the english is GOOD.
+grandma likes her.
-ideas too vague.
random: HAHA RETIRED CIVL SERVANT MY ASS. RETIRED CHIEF SECRETARY IS MORE LIKE IT.
#8. Vote? NO.
-as usual, NO ENGLISH.
outcome?
vote for no one, coz i'm not even of age yet, let alone a elector :P
my decisions for who to vote are kinda funny. but i can't stand it when they don't have an english version of their platform. do they not remember there are TWO official languages of hong kong? D:
