i saw Into The Wild today.

and i feel Chris/Alexander Supertramp was a wonderful person. his major flaw was his selfishness/stubbornness/ignorance. had he simply used common sense and learned how to survive in the Alaskan wilderness, and prepared a little more, after finding himself or whatever he was looking for, maybe the idea that happiness isn't really complete until you can share it with someone else, he would've returned home a better man and been able to proudly tell everyone he accomplished his goal with little to no money or material possessions. he would've comforted everyone about his well being, and he would've been such a positive role model for so many of todays youths who are desperately searching for answers to many of life's great questions.

instead he died cold, hungry, and alone. the wilderness he once claimed so much freedom in he later proclaimed as his cage, something he became trapped in.

it's be wrong to say i don't envy/admire him. but i'd like to think i'd have a little more common sense when coming face to face with mother nature.
