Everyone's being really... talkative. Open. Truthful.

I bet this is a curse.

[ooc: Quicksilver's normal today. He had enough of spilling his guts on Tuesday. ;) ]

curse day

You ask me, it's still the same principle. You work with what you have. What's wondering whether you would've done better, been better, or liked better the life that could have been going to do for you now? Not much. Sure, I get what might be bothering him. But it's not going to change anything.

I've got better things to do than be here. Back home, I've got a job and a life and people who freaked out the last time I disappeared. I got out once, and you know, I didn't want to come back? And next thing you know, I'm in the city again. But some people don't have a normal life ot get back to. It seems like a lot of them actually are better off here. But that's not really something I can judge.

...geez. I'd get confused, having to deal with that kind of thing. Mach 1, huh? I don't remember my Flash facts very well. Was years ago that I read comics. I remember Bart Allen had this thing about going so fast that he went back in time though. Somehow, I don't remember that being a good thing.

Oh, yeah. I can definitely see him being real. I just met a guy who's the protagonist of a Broadway musical back home. Actually, there were two of those. And believe it or not, X-Men? Comic book series. Though I'm not going to blame you if you don't believe it.

[[Nah, was going to get to it anyway. XD I saw it being mentioned to him earlier, so I was just waiting for a point to bring it up.]]

That's true. And I typically do work with what I have, but... that day just hit a lot of people hard, I guess. And no, the past won't change, but perhaps having this different perspective on it will change the future, at least for me.

Ah. Do you know how to get out? It's all rather unclear to me.

Going so fast he could go back in time? Why would you want to go back in time? Why not go forward, so you can know what will happen in the future?

And it's not really confusing to me, but I've lived with it all my life, so I'm probably used to it. The new speed is a bit different, I'll admit, but I'll probably adjust soon.

The protagonist of a musical? Wait, so it wasn't just that he was an actor? Ok, that's strange, I'll agree. But I think that same guy was trying to convince me about the X-Men being in comic books too. It's just too hard to believe. I mean, that would be like saying that, back home, you are a character in a movie. Wait! You aren't, are you?!

[Okay, wasn't sure if you knew. :D ]

Hey, at least you're taking it well. This friend of mine's just not over the family thing. So far, I haven't even seen him pick himself up to think about what he could do, now that he knows what might have been.

There's supposed to be a lot of different ways, apparently. Most of them are accidents. The most surefire way is to go to Dorian and trade a way out for something of yours, but usually, her price is a little more than people want to give. Yoshito used to give out tickets home, but that stopped a long time ago.

Has to do with the laws of physics and all. You know, relativity and that sort of thing. At least...I think. At some point, he became pure energy, he was going so fast. Or...something.

Look, I read those when I was a kid. I'm not sure on all that.

Yeah, he's a main character in a musical back where I come from. And then there's the Phantom of the Opera. At this rate, I'm not going to deny the possibility of anything, though I can't say I've got a very interesting life to have a movie based on it somewhere.

Family's tough, though. In a way, you all feel like you should take care of each other, so if something happens, it's hard to get over. Hopefully, your friend will be better soon.

Most of the ways out are accidents? Like, "Gee, I really don't want to go home, I've really grown to like it here. *whistles* Oops, let me just step through this interdimensional worm hole. Darn, now I'm not in the City anymore. No more curses. Drat."?

Dorian? I've heard mention of her in a few people's journals, but it's always really... circular. Nothing clear about who she is. Who is she? She trades things? And I've never heard of Yoshito before.

Well, it could be. I don't remember much about him either.

Phantom of the Opera? I've heard of that. There are people here from that? Well, I guess if that's possible, then maybe it's possible that there are stories about the X-Men somewhere. Am I really important in the comic books, do you remember?

[he still doesn't really believe it, but he's willing to try for an ego boost. XD ]

Eh. I wouldn't know. Too many foster families to count. It would be a headache.

Sort of. A lot of them just...disappear. So we assume they made it out. Others dip out and then show up again, and for some reason, they always sound like they're glad they're back or they knew it was going to be a short stay and didn't care. Which makes no sense to me, personally, seeing as I was all set to get back to life when I ended up here again.

She's very clear, actually. A little annoyingly so. There's an old lady who's always by the fountain at Misery Square, and she's willing to give you anything in exchange for...anything but money, really. Most of the time, it's memories, but a lot of people don't seem to know that that's not the only thing she'll take.

Yoshito's just...weird "deity" on sugar and crack. He's the nicer of the two. Supposedly, there are two others, though I'm not sure what the deal is with them.

Two of them, actually. Christine and the Phantom himself. And again, I haven't read comics in forever. Plus, you have to keep in mind, the X-Men ones had probably more characters in their storyline alone than all the comic books combined. Tons of mutants. Tons of backstory.

If I remember anything right at all, just...look forward to having a really complicated life. Fix up your attitude towards everyone else moving so slow a bit, and you might deal with it better. Though I think you've caught onto that by now.

[[Guh. But there's so much that happens to Pietro! D:]]

Oh. So if someone just disappears, it's likely they made it out? That's good to know at least.

Anything but money? And she usually takes memories? Probably not the type you don't want to have, right? Probably some that you'd prefer to keep, cause otherwise it wouldn't be equal. Do you know what other types of things she'll take?

Oh, so he's one of the deities I heard about. I heard there were deities, but back home no one really puts much faith in religion anymore, so I didn't know what to believe. If he's the nicer of the two, then can I presume that the day of blood was not his doing?

Well, my life's already really complicated! I bet the comic books didn't say anything about me taking a random side-trip to a city that no one back home knows about! And I am trying to be nicer to everyone, even though they're really slow, but... right now, I can amuse myself by exploring the City, but what happens when I get bored?

That's what we're all assuming anyway. Maybe they got eaten. Who knows?

She'd probably take them, but you're not going to get much back if you didn't want them in the first place. She'll take tangible things too--stuff you'd consider valuable because of sentimental reasons or whatever. Keepsakes, mementos, wedding rings. Photographs can work too, I hear.

And then there's the other stuff. My friend and I got out last time because he bargained her price down to just a duet.

Deity is some screwed up name that a random idiot in the city gave them at some point. They weren't always called that, and they shouldn't be because they're not anything close to all-powerful, and they have higher authorities. But no, Yoshito didn't do the blood thing. That was probably Kaen.

This place? I don't think this place has ever been mentioned where I come from. But you're...what, a teenager now? Plenty of time for things to get more convoluted.

As for getting bored, practically everyone here gets bored for some reason. I don't understand it, but that's likely because it never seems like anyone else is doing anything to find a way out, which can take up all your time if you put yourself to it. If you do get bored, which I imagine you will, at some point, talking to people is your best bet. Or starting something like that paintball tournament.
