Everyone's being really... talkative. Open. Truthful.

I bet this is a curse.

[ooc: Quicksilver's normal today. He had enough of spilling his guts on Tuesday. ;) ]

curse day

A curse? I didn't think of that! Now that I think of it, though, it probobly is...

I think it's a curse. It seems like strange stuff=curse, so that's my guess. Are you one of the talkative ones?

Oh, and have we met before? I'm Pietro Maximoff, but I also go by Quicksilver.

Yeah, I'm one a the 'talkative' ones, but I figure no harm in talking to someone I don't know too well.

I'm Tonks, and I go by Tonks.

Works for me. Nice to meet you Tonks. Do you know many people here?

Nice to meet you too, Peitro.

I really only know the people from my world, and they're going to be angry at me... soon. So, yeah, my social life? Down the tubes.

They're going to be angry at you? Why?

There's no one here from my world, so far as I can tell... You'll just have to do like me and meet new people.

They might not be angry at me. I don't know. I'm probobly overeacting and all that rubbish, but I promised to not tell someone something, and this bloody curse screwed that up, and I think I made a right fool of myself. Eh.

No one from your world, eh? Must have been bloody confusing when you first got here with no one to explain.

So far I've only met my cat. And I've always been called a social butterfly...

Ah, ok. I know what it's like to have the curses screw things up, although I haven't got any friends here to be angry at me. And that one a few days ago made me act like a fool too.

It was... Some people tried to explain, but I've learned more just reading people's journals. I still feel like I'm missing a few things, but I'll figure it out. At least I'm not too bored - I've got too much to learn.

Now you've met me, though. Surely that counts?

Ha. A kidred spirit, right?

Where you affected by that curse that changed people's pasts? That one skipped over me, thank Merlin, but it did screw a lotta people up, that's for sure. Sorry you where in that tally, then.

Of course it does, Peitro. Y'know, I really like that name, I think I've never heard it before. Where's it come from?

Maybe in that... other things it is too soon to tell yet.

Yes, I was. It was... not kind to me. But I met some nice people who helped me through it. I think without them it would have been a very bad day.

It's Eastern European. My foster parents, who took care of me from birth, were gypsies who traveled in that area, and they named me and my sister. Yours is rather interesting too...

Well, at least you met people, then. I'm as lonely as hell in this place.

Wow, that's pretty interesting. Is it a variation of Pedro, 'cause that's what I'm thinking.

'Tonks' is jus' my da's surname. My first name is Nymphandora, though I generally don't give that one out, cause then people'll actually call me that. I hate that name, my mother was a sadist for saddling me with it, so I use my last name. The whole easier to spell, say and remember bit is a plus, too.

You can try commenting to people you don't know in the journals... like you did with me. That's how I've met most of the people I know...

They're both just variations of Peter, which comes from the Greek Petros.

I can see your point on the spelling, but you must be one of the few females out there that don't want to be known as a divine being represented as a beautiful maiden, as the mythological nymphs are portrayed. There were some girls in school with me that would'a loved to be called Nymph. But I'll call you Tonks, though, since you prefer that.

I've been doing that.

Ah. Peter. The rock.

Nymphandora means 'Gift of the nymphs', Like the dora in pandora. It's been shortened to 'Dora' a few times, but I still prefer Tonks, thanks. It's jus' hard to get along with, my family does have a habit with these too long, weird names (Bellatrix, Andromeda, ect), But I don't really like that side of my family, and I just don't think it fits me.

But you said something about the name 'Quicksilver'? Where'd you get that?

Yes, the rock. Doesn't suit me at all.

Tonks it is. Those are very unusual names. They're girl names, right? Are the boy's names as unusual, or is it only the girls?

Quicksilver... that requires a bit of explanation. Where I'm from a small percentage of the population is born with a gene that allows them to develop powers beyond those of humans, super powers if you will. These people are called mutants, and are often discriminated against. That's something for another time, perhaps.

Anyway, these powers are different from person to person. Most people tend to develop things that fit their personality. Most people get these powers when they're going through puberty, but I've had mine since birth. My power happens to be speed. Quicksilver is another name for the element mercury, which was named after the Roman god Mercury, who was known for his speed and mobility. I didn't like the name Mercury, so I chose Quicksilver.

Andromeda is my mum, the chained maiden. They all like the mythology names, hence 'nymph'. Bellatrix, I'm not sure exactly what it means, 'sides 'war', which suits her, 'cause she's crazier and more violent than anything I've ever seen ( ... )

That's strange, that you all have the same type of powers. But the fact that some of you are better at some fields than others must be like how some people are better at math, or history, in school.

My father says that mutants are better than everyone else, too. I don't really know if I believe that anymore, because since getting here I've met some really nice humans, and back home there were some truly evil mutants.

Doesn't the fact that they're marrying cousins mean that they're inbred? They should be giving birth to children with physical and mental disabilities or even insanity every generation, if it's been going on that long. That's pretty dangerous.

There hasn't yet been a war between humans and mutants... but I think it's what my father wants. He's really powerful, you see, and I know he thinks he'd win. But now I'm here, too, so I don't know how things are at home.

Yeah, I guess we're not too different. And you still got to pick your name, in a way! Otherwise you wouldn't tell people to call you Tonks!

[ooc: yeah, that ( ... )
