Semana Santa in Sevilla

I urgently have some catching up to do with my f-list, but I have a perfectly good reason why I'm behind on commenting. I was on holiday. I stayed for five days in Seville and for two in Madrid and in both cities I had an amazing time. Having breakfast on the rooftop terrace of my hostel, strolling around in the gardens of the Reales Alcazares, sunbathing, visiting some cathedrals and towers, reading my book of Russel Brand and writing postcards. I travelled on my own but I had some nice conversations with people in my hostel and I met two other Comenius girls (who are working as a language assistant like me). I never really felt lonely. There were a lot of people in Seville because of the Semana Santa, the Holy Week when all the churches organise processions that march through Seville. I just thought it was hilarious. All these people dressed like ghosts, with pointy hats and candles and candy for the children. Trying to avoid the processions to go from one side of the city to the other felt like playing a computergame.

And then one of my friends in Belgium decided to come visit me, just like that. So I had a visitor for three days! And miraculously the weather was sunny and hot here in rainy Galicia. So we went to the beach and we sunbathed in the park and we went out with my flatmates. Although I had to teach this week, it still felt like vacation. Good times... I hope you guys have them as well.
