ive got nothing against what you are trying to accomplish, self improvement is always good. i just thought id throw out what i know in an attempt to help you out. like you im trying to get better looking, but being a guy im goin for weight gain(muscle). if theres anything ive learned its that overtraining is bad for many reasons. main reason being your muslces dont have time to recover, which is all around bad news. if youve got the guts and the will to be at the gym that long you could look great, and not worry about weight. muscle weighs more than fat, and you could be slightly more muscular and way more toned and weigh more than you want to right now, but still look awesome. the other thing about overtraining like your 500 crunches for instance is that you arent gaining anything out of it. your abs will no build new muscle for the 6 pack you want, and youll essentially keep them the same size. if you are going for outright weight loss do full body cardio stuff. im not trying to offend you, just ran accross this and figured id give some helpful info. doing crunches will not help burn fat around your stomach, read this about the spot reduction myth and youll see what i mean. http://exrx.net/WeightTraining/Myths.html#anchor7319578 "Fat is lost throughout the body in a pattern dependent upon genetics, sex (hormones), and age. Overall body fat must be reduced to lose fat in any particular area. Although fat is lost or gained throughout the body, it seems the last area to become lean or the first area to get fat is the midsection (in men and some women) and hips and thighs (in women and few men)."
good luck with your goals. hope i didnt offend you. feel free to hit me up with any other questions or hateful comments you want
Thanks for the advice, i do appreciate it and no you haven't offended me. I know the risks of over training and that muscles weigh more than fat, and that crunches will not improve the size of my abdominals to great extent and that different ways of breathing whilst doing crunches and situps can have different affects on how the muscle develops, and that exercising aerobically for more than 30 minutes on an empty stomach can actually burn muscle instead of fat. Despite all this, yes i want to loose weight and regain the toned, definition i used to have, but i don't care if i take a few wrong turns along the way, crunches make me feel as though i'm doing something , do eat up some of the calories , and stops the boredom kicking in. Also i tend to consume alot of protein and Riboflavin, so my muscles repair quicker,(My trainer/ nutritionist at the gym's evaluated how hard i can push my muscles without causing excessive damage, an incorporated what they need to repair into my diet). Also no matter how long i spend at the gym i will always have to watch what i eat, when i was around 13-14, i was exercising constantly. I'd wake up at4:45 and do 30 minutes on the skiing machine then 50-100 situps with my arms crossed(depending on how motivated i was)run up and down the stairs 20 times , get showered an ready for school, run there, do phys. ed, then stay behind for two hours doing dance, gym, netball , hockey(whatever club was on that day), run home again get changed relax for a hour(unless it was a monday thursday or tuesday-then i had to get changed an be out again), go to dance class/ cheer leading, for three/4 hours go home do my additional 50situps, do homework till about 10 then dance or run(depending on what it was like outside,)watch TV for a hour an by the time i'd finished that i'd go to bed at around half past one (AM). I was doing all of this whilst consuming no more than 300calories on most days, and on caffeine, green tea and water others, but still, if i indulged to 400+ for a day my waistline and the scales would begin to creep up. It's in my genetics to have to work to be slim, if i want weight loss i have to work hard, sacrificing at all costs.
Thanks for the information and advice though, an thanks for giving actual supportive criticism , rather than simply trolling as most people do, claiming to help.

you say 13-14 like that was just yesterday. just remember your body is still growing, and what you do now will affect you forever. the other thing is making it the center of your universe takes its toll. remember that looks arent everything, and enjoy youth while youve got it. im only 21, but i still wish i woulda relaxed more in high school
Re: Thanyoux_miniminx_xFebruary 23 2006, 12:48:40 UTC
I know it takes its toll, and yes i do wish that i hadn't started all this and learned to let go and relax more but at the end of the day recovery is a hard thing to achieve, and you have to be willing to do it. My body is already well and truly fucked from years of abuse and malnutrition, trust me on this one i've spent hours on end contemplating what i've done n what i'm still doing. I am a perfectionist and always have been, high status(in any aspect of life) is something that is praised greatly in my family, since i was born i've always been around people who are dieting and striving, starving for perfection, so it kinda sank in, appearances have been made everything, my cousins are models, internationally competing dancers, people who get A*'s all the way through life, and my mother always wanted a model for a daughter, her motto for me has always been "don't cry...It'll spoil your makeup", or "Don't do that, it'll reflect badly on me as a mother", so as much as i want to enjoy youth-i won't be able to until i've got back a slim, toned physique(ideally more toned than before, i know i can't have the body of a twelve year old again, and at a 32DD i don't want to- it wouldn't look right lol), but there's always room for improvement, i'll enjoy life more when i've made it better.

maybe if you redirected your goals from looks to physical condition you could stop worrying about minimum weight, just a thought. the key is to be happy with yourself, and not worry about what anyone else thinks. youre at a perfectly reasonable weight for having the body type im assuming youve got from the facts ive gathered so far. grades are also of little importance, you seem to be intelligent from the way you post and as long as you are trying to learn on a daily basis that is what matters. in the end though, it all comes down to you. its your body, your grades, your everything, so do what you think is best for yourself.

i dont even remember exactly. i was browsing through some random page someone linked me too, i saw they had joined that group, then i saw your post and figured you looked like you were actually putting forth some effort and are intelliegent enough to accept advice with dismissing me as a troll. <--longest sentence ever haha
Re: Thanyoux_miniminx_xFebruary 24 2006, 23:33:10 UTC
lol kool, nah if you wanted the longest sentence ever you'd have to put "disastablishmentarianism" into it like 12times lol(longest word in the dictionary, apparently). I love the internet too, then again i hate it because it makes it so easy to access everything (lol i know i sound pessimistic there), like paedo's getting to kids, and hackers getting to peoples writings and pictures etc.
Re: ThanyouturbotisafishFebruary 25 2006, 02:59:35 UTC
almost the longest word, cant forget "antidisestablishmentarianism" but then again smiles is pretty long too(mile between the first and last letters har har)
eh i wouldnt ditch the itnernet for all the tea in china. it may be scary at times, but its worth it. without the itnernet youd never find things like this:
