FINALLY, at long last, here is the crummy tutorial I've been promising you, featuring the ever loveable Professor Remus Lupin. I did this to not only brighten the image but also to enhance his skin whilst keeping a good reflection of blue ... and let's face it, there's a lot of blue.
NOTE: If you are a newbie to icon making and you don't understand what's written here, you can always ask me or refer to my
22nd Colouring Tutorial, which was written entirely for beginners ((hence why it explains all the basic steps)).
NOTE 2: If you use, please credit! Don't steal my icons and tuts and claim them as your own 'cause I will FIND OUT WHO YOU ARE.
*ahem*
Crop and resize your pic to 100 x 100, duplicate base and set to Soft Light 100 %
=
OPTIONAL: New raster layer, fill with #1f223f, set to Dodge 100 % ((This softens the red a bit; I had this layer on Lupin to make him a slightly bit more pale but the colouring is good either way))
=
New raster layer, fill with #ead0d6, set to Colour (L) 100%
=
Duplicate base, bring to top, set to Screen 100%
=
Now, I added my text in here because of the different endings; I wanted the text to fit in with each colouring. Whether or not you add text - and if you do, when you choose to do it - is yours, but here's what I did:
Remus, dark grey, FairydustB, size 14 [?], no outline.
Tonight brings the end to the madness within / Quake from the moon and cower in sin, dark grey, Tahoma, size1, no outline [centred] ((again, this is a crummy 5-second poem by moi)).
After I inserted the text, I merged to move on to the options ((following examples are without text)).
A: Without Auto
1) Fade Correction: 5
2) Grey World: 7621
=
B: With Auto
1) Fade Correction: 5
2) Grey World: 7621
3) Auto Saturation Enhancement: Bias: Normal; Strength: Strong; Skintones: present
=
et voila!

Thank you for being patient with me. I don't know when the next tutorial is going to be as the last two tuts I wrote up to put up here I ... accidentally overwrote >)_< Mad much; they were the ones that showed what I had done to make the two Rickman icons that won Mods Choice awards in the
rickman_stills challanges ((award banners in profile ... they wrote my name wrong!!)). I really wish I could remember them, I'm so sorry.
For more examples of this tutorial in use, take a look at the majority of
MMFM Harry Potter. Even my now default icon is in it ((would you believe it's the moon the boggart turns into in the DATDA class? I'm rather proud of that one)). I know a lot of them are crummy; the only two I really like out of that batch are Paper Moon and Fly Away.
Anyway, that's my 33rd! Use, credit and enjoy!
