You managed to convey the anger, despair, and acceptance quite well. And as much as it hurts-I have to agree with the way Dean chose to end it-together and finally at peace. I only saw a few words that needed to change but other than that well written. Thanks for this!

The tragedy of this was how ordinary the hunt was, and the shock of it going wrong was very effective.

Thank you! I wanted to start this with an ordinary hunt because i feel like they are superheros in the show! I love it but sometimes i'm like 'hey but any human would be dead!' when they just get up after being thrown against a wall!

This was painful and completely in character. I, too, cannot see Dean living without a way to be with Sam. And dying on a hunt, no less. After facing Azazel, Lilith, Lucifer, Leviathans, Crowley, and Death himself, to die on a simple salt-n-burn is just a punch in the junk. If Cas could've brought him back, I know Dean would've laughed at Sammy until he puked! But, no... there's no coming back for Sam, finally. I must admit, I cried a bit. Not the ugly cry, but just a tear or two. Maybe three...shu-up. Thank you for sharing this awesome fic with us all.
