I was having a bit twitter conversation about things I ship and how they map, so I decided to make a list of everything I've ever read fic for, barring like, miiinor adventures.

Things I've read a lot of and would still seek out and read happily (though not all are like, KEY fandoms for me/my investment level varies, and it REALLY depends on my mood):

CONCLUSIONS:
* I have 3 TYPES really:

bffs w complex loyalty issues
things like Gaudy Night
(and overlaps, like, have fun locating B/A in this schema)
* Idc about gender/advanced age/hotness really--I mean I will FIND the hotness
* it feels like cheating that romances I LOVE but don't read fic for aren't on here, but DO I 'ship' them if I don't seek fic?
* It is notable that they're all clever p much :/
* I'm nearly always protags
* Nearly always people I'd make an academic argument for
* I go for: the ship that makes SENSE of the text for me, that enriches the text
* It's often a case where, in my reading, it's kind of immaterial whether they shag or not because their emotional involvement with one another is incontestibly vital to them and the narrative
* I have a hard time squeezing a ship out of a small canon
* I like super/super and super/mundane as their own things (tho happy w mundane/mundane in canons where that's not a thing)
* I have to care about both characters (some people really don't, it's fandom darling and what makes him happy/a cock--that's a mean way of putting it but you KNOW someone is watching that grapefruit oral sex trick video and going mm, Spike/Grapefruit)
* On making my big list and finding no femslash pairs, tho I am a queer lady and yea, be in a queer relationship: I've happily read femslash versions of a lot of these, and het versions of the slash ships? I honestly think it's that thing where two central women having a CENTRAL, IMPORTANT relationship that might be gay is rare, bc god knows when I get to a new fandom one of my first instincts is 'ok what changes if they're women'. I mean the only way I'd ever be happy about a Blakes 7 reboot is if the protagonists were lesbians let's put it fucking that way.
* Too white, possibly for similar reasons. Like--I trust myself enough, I think, to say that if Spock was black I'd still dig the living shit out of it. But what canon gives me something like K/S but with a PoC? I know I have some anime on here but that's not quite the same.
