fics i'm working on/planning
I always write--for people to read. Not tailored like a suit, but for a few readers. There's a whole school of writing that emphasizes TOTAL INDIVIDUALISM as the only artistic!! perspective--write for oneself, etc. But that's some Romantic Muse-Whispers bullshit. Writing is always communication--there's an intended recipient, or it's not even writing, just marks. Maybe according to purists of that ilk you are your own Best Reader, but I've never really enjoyed reading my own work (very occasionally, but not as a rule, and I don't do it much).
Pre-Tumblr, when I was more embedded in fandom, I felt a lot surer of what people wanted. And I never really wrote The Zeitgeist--I was never in MEGAFANDOMS and their Central Pairings--but I knew sort of--what pairings and topics might interest anyone who wasn't just me.
So without asking anyone to demonstrate cray excitement over fic that doesn't exist yet, and which may never exist (I've given up projects before this), here are some WIPs, things I've plotted, and things I think I should probably write. It might help me if you could mention which you might like to see, so I can sort my priorities/plans and see what there's an audience for (no pressure though, of course!). Generally it serves as a good reference list for my use. I can hold a lot of plots in my head but not really--a neat list of all the possible things I can/should work on, that I can eassily evaluate the pros and cons of doing rn and choose between.

* take her spirit and plain day, the two sequels to the Yuletide soulbond AU crack--take significantly about uni and Mary, with the plot hanging on the competition, the ACD!H tie-in, and the Christmas gift (mirroring the Donne thing), plain day about the death of her parents and the engagement proper
* the one where they grow up together (same age) and he breaks up with her after WWI bc he's ruined!! or whatever and it takes them a long time to get back together circa SP, over the prospect of her moving on, about imperfection in Sayers, in a way, and the fucking stupidity of those chess pieces needing to be perfect--the fic I'm not ready to write yet, despite having started, bc it's too long and I'm not good enough in this canon yet (sooort of developed)
[1. Harriet and Peter grow up together, same age, war trauma makes Peter skittish about their long-standing understanding (he's broooken now, abohoohoo) and Harriet has to woo him around (option on Harriet doing intelligence work w/ him as well--you know, HARRIET THE SPY I'll see myself out (j/k I was thinking more behind-lines cryptology a la HHC)).]
* the one where they grow up together WITH the age gap (the Beatrice fic (sooort of developed)

Peter in love with her WAY early and feels god-awful about it, what the hell is wrong with him, makes sure she never knows, and it's awkward when she grows up and DOES know, b/c what does she do with that. Predicated on Sayers' fixation with Dante's Divine Comedy/leaving the series to translate it, Beatrice being like /fucking 13/, that age diff., etc. ]
* Modern AU--Peter a girl. Named Peter. Lesbian fun. [except I sort of want to write this as an actual TV series, I know how it gooooes [or how it doesn't bc the estate would never]]
* medieval AU (Not sure I'll do this one, but I know a bit about how I would)

And divorce. And no forgiveness ever bc I don't work through emotional conflict, I burn off my wounds. And spock is like DIVORCE?! I am so hurt I was just stating my **opinion**! Well *I* will take the kid then. I am responsible and have better connections and don't live on a ship and blah blah. And Kirk is like... you can have our son. But there were two and Kirk is like 'but unbeknownst to you I'm keeping the daughter, jackass' and is a GREAT father and the kids meet at camp but then there's a siege and they call for help and--
