Amanda Kilbride Comm Acad II Mr. DeLossa 3/09/04 Project Management Plan Description of Product I plan to produce a 30- 60 minute documentary researching and analyzing general ghost and spiritual hauntings in Lowell and the Massachusetts area. It will contain interviews with witnesses and victims of paranormal events, specifically surrounding ghosts. The film will document not only haunted houses, but inns, restaurants, and abandoned buildings as well. I plan to gather information from families and individuals who live in what are said to be “haunted houses,” as well as others in other areas who have witnessed the supernatural. The product will take the viewer on a general tour of Lowell and on the outskirts of greater Lowell in search of information about the paranormal. Footage inside the businesses and homes that are said to be haunted, will dominate a good percentage of the film. If possible, general tours through these ‘haunted’ houses, inns, restaurants, etc. will be included, as well as the person giving the tour talking, and giving information about the hauntings. The narration in the film will typically be the interviews which I will collect beforehand. One business I would like to focus on is Evos Arts on Middle St. in downtown Lowell. According to my research, the building is said to be haunted by the poltergeist of a worker who fell down the elevator shaft in the 1970’s. He died, and it is believed that his ghost still continues to haunt the residents and workers of the institute. The film will cover this topic as I collect interviews from those who have been exposed to these ghostly occurrences. Objective/Goal The production of this documentary specifically is meant for teaching and informing the citizens of Lowell of some of the dangers that could be associated with paranormal events in the area. It is meant to increase awareness of the supernatural, as many people have the wrong idea about the subject. This film will showcase my abilities which I have learned over the past two years, in all aspects of my film production studies. I will display my talents through camera work, organization of shot lists and storyboards, interviews, editing, and my overall effort in the quality of the film. My documentary will relate to the citizens of the Lowell area, as well as those who have been affected by poltergeist sightings and events. It will allow those who have been victimized by the paranormal in Lowell, to speak out about what has occurred in their homes or businesses. Often times, people who have experienced paranormal events are unable to get their voices heard because they are not taken seriously. Many laugh and ignore their foolish babble because they have not seen ghosts and do not believe in the supernatural. My goal is to get these citizens heard and to give others in the Lowell area a chance to experience these events themselves in hopes that they will realize that ghosts are not just a work of fiction. This project may not change lives, but it may open people up to what is thought to be impossible. What people ignore in disgust, and laugh at out of spite. It gives those of us who don’t believe a chance to recall the old ghost stories we were once exposed to as children. I think it will allow those who are ashamed to still believe in ghosts a chance to not worry so much about people thinking they’re crazy, because ghosts really do exist. It’s an opportunity to give the viewers a good scare and a good laugh at the same time. It’s a way of entertaining and instilling a sense of illusion and fantasy. But at the same time the viewers are struck with a surprising sense that maybe what is shown in the film really isn’t all mythical and false. The production of this film will be a lot of work, and a lot of effort on my part will be put into making it as good as it possibly can be. Not only will this film be a significant representation of my talent, it will also help to further educate me in the fundamentals of the production of films. My own standard of excellence is to make this film the most creative of documentaries I’ve ever produced. I do not expect this to be a huge production, as I do not have the time nor the resources. However, I expect this small and simple film to produce great results. In order to meet the expectations of my teachers, classmates, school and city, I must first meet the expectations of myself. I plan to work with my teachers as well as my classmates in order to get feedback throughout the production of this film. I expect that by learning through others and working in groups, I can accomplish a film that, although it is done by a high school student, is worthy of praise.
