I just finished watching the entire series of Hikaru no Go, including the special. And let me say... it was very VERY good.
It's probably the only anime that's made me cry for over 3 minutes. Sobbing. I was so depressed! It was so saaaad~! I have to say, it was one of the most emotional animes I have ever seen, and that's saying something considering it's about an ancient board game.
It had to have most emotions packed into 75 episodes than any other anime. It wasn't all angst like Wolf's Rain, it wasn't all happiness like DiGi Charat, it wasn't all... well... whatever Dragon Ball Z is... It was crazy man! One minute I'm crying my eyes out and the next I'm laughing! That show has more PMS than Barbara Walters!
Ugh... And I am so sick of people saying how boring it is. Okay fine, it REALLY doesn't belong in Shonen Jump since it has much more shoujo potential than Godchild ever will.
So there's only four female charaters in the entire anime, which isn't very shoujo. But honestly, the boys act more like girls than anything. So picture this. Three boys playing Go with one girl watching them. Hikaru loses... then another boy loses... and then finally the strongest player loses. Well, first the girl starts to cry. The the boy who lost second bursts into tears. Hikaru then starts to cry... and finally the strongest player with the bitchiest attitude hangs his head in shame and holds back tears. And then I start to cry. It was like a vicious cycle.
And now after recaping... I really want to watch all of it again. I don't want to buy it, since I'm afraid of what it will be like in English... and how badly edited it will be.
