Here's a nice little ficlet I wrote a while back. The tense is semi-awkward, but in re-reading it, I think I worked most of it out. And yes, it is in the 2nd person.
zdarovyeh, I'm on a 2nd person roll. :P

No one ever said life would be easy. They said you’ll need to work for everything you want. So, you try, try harder, and never give up. You look at the things you don’t need and let them fall to the wayside. In the end, you’re left with your desires, hopes, dreams, and hard work. You’ve achieved life-long goals: get drafted, play in the NHL, score, don’t get sent down. You’ve let nothing get in your way and have disregarded anything that can’t help you achieve your goals as distractions. You’re an all-star, a legend, an idol to many, but you still come home every night to an empty house. When the clock strikes midnight, you lie in an empty bed and clutch Egyptian cotton sheets, wishing you could feel the warmth of someone else’s body lying next to your own.
In an attempt to fill the void, you begin to bring home anyone willing to be near you; all you want is for someone to hold when you’re lonely. But eventually, the sun rises on Pittsburgh, or whatever city you’re in, and you’re back where you started. You’ve known as long as you could remember that life doesn’t always have happy endings. Cinderella doesn’t always get her prince, the underdog won’t always win, and the sun doesn’t always shine. But just once, you want the feeling that you’re invincible. Someone loves you, and that’s all you need. You want to walk on water, shout on rooftops, clutch a hand instead of a sheet at night. You want love, but you know life doesn’t always have happy endings.
