Actually, yeah I do. And you're going to be like "What the fuck are you talking about, I've never heard of this, don't talk to me." But hear me out first. Before I was going into special education, I was 100% planning on becoming a PR major, which is a central part to a lot of journalism and mass communication programs. Now, I live in Ohio, and I can't afford a private school, so I was only looking at state colleges. I found that Kent State University, in Kent, Ohio, is amazing. It's the number one public college (but NOT open enrollment) in the state of Ohio. Kent is a very quaint school, it's big but not massive. The city has downtown areas, a lot of it is artsy, and it's about 30 minutes from Cleveland, and an hour from Pittsburgh.

They have what's called "The School of Journalism and Mass Communications" or "JMC". It's tough. I interviewed for it, I talked to the professors, I applied, everything. I looked at all the kids' work, and it was prestidgious. Kent actually built a whole new building for it on their main campus because apparently it was a growing, successful program. And, it's not a lot of dummies. I graduated 30th out of 233 kids in an upper middle class suburb. I had a 3.9 GPA, two 4s on English Language and Literature AP tests. I wasn't a genius...but I was smart. However, I sucked at the ACT and I had to take a basic class before I could get into my major's classes. Point is, it's not like they don't try to weed you out. If you're competitive and you love what you do, you're certainly in the right spot.

The Kent State University campus is actually really nice itself. It's really picturesque and all the dorms have a lot of tihngs to do on them - there's clubs, bowling alleys, markets, etc - all on in just the dorms! They cater to special life styles (i.e. vegan), and they're clean. Essentially, it really is a good school, and if you're open to it, check it out.

*Note - you DON'T want the "Communication Studies" school. It's very basic. Essentially, kids who "can't take the heat" go to the Comm Studies school. I don't think there is much wrong with this, but I don't think it's where the good jobs are.

Seriously though, look into it.

Wow, thanks! I hadn't looked at any Ohio schools (the only one I looked at in the mid-west was Ball State), but I've been to Cleveland and thought it was a lovely city. A cute city. :) Plus, it's about an 8 hour drive from me. Thanks again! I'll be sure to look into it. :)
