So today was interesting.

I woke up to the sound of my mom sobbing "Noooo, help me, No no no nooo Stooop!" over and over again. She was walking around the house crying and yelling, clutching her side. I got up and asked her what was going on, and she didn't know. I woke up my dad, who told me to go back to bed. I went and layed down, but ten minutes later I was up again trying to calm my mom down as she begged my dad not to take her to the hospital. I convinced her that she was being ridiculous, and went to find her some clothes as she knelt on the bathroom floor, over the toilet. I helped her put her socks on while my dad called a cab, and wrapped my faux fur leopard blanket around her shoulders as the cab pulled into the driveway.

At 4pm, my dad still hadn't called. I called work and told them that I couldn't come in due to a family emergency, as I was to anxious to go in. My dad came home, alone...my mom's still at the hospital, and we're not sure when she'll be out. She had an intestinal blockage...a while back, when I was younger, she had to have her large intestine removed. I'm not exactly sure what they did, but (this is going to be gross, just a warning) they constructed another "tube" for solid waste, by using her small intestine and doing some rerouting and internal plumbing. Hahaha. Unfortunatly, this tube is smaller then a large intestine and can get blocked up easily. Last night she ate a bag of nuts, and that's apparantly what caused it.

My dad is all stressed out and won't go into detail over what happened, and it's bothering me. I'm really worried. He can be selfish like this sometimes.

Anyways, it has happened before and it's not very serious...but this was the worst one, and I hope she learned her lesson...she's not supposed to eat nuts!!

So yes, in other news I guess...

Work is pissing me off to no end.
Management is ridiculous. Particularly the main store manager, CLINT. Clint has threatened to fire me multiple times, and gives the entire department of specialty a blanket threat of termination. "If you don't do such and such in this way, you'll be fired!" Or, Written up. Or demoted. Etc etc etc. It's not motivation.

The most recent irritation was on Monday. Last week, when I checked the schedule for this week, I saw that they had given me six shifts. My availability has been 3-4 shifts a week at the most, since the beginnning of my job at Petsmart. It has never changed. I went to Rob, one of the managers, and showed him the schedule. "Talk to mike" he said "That's bullshit, you can't work that entire week". So, next day, I approach mike and show him the schedule. "Oh, you'll have to find people to cover your shifts. Darren (district manager) said that we can't change the schedule for employees now, we have a store to run, you have to do it yourself." This met by a rant about management and their utter stupidity...it was their fault that I had to rearrange my schedule! They created this problem!

So, I ask Mike for the numbers of employees I should call. He gives me the numbers of Kristen and Jessica B. Luckily, Kristen agrees to take my Saturday shift and, after reading her my schedule, Jessica agreed to take my Monday.

Monday, I get home from 2cup to a message from my mom that Jessica had called and said she couldn't take my shift because she had a doctors appointment. My shift had started five minutes ago, and I was getting ready to go out. A few minutes later, Melinda (another manager) calls and asks me why I am not at work. I told her what happened, and she tells me that Jessica could never had taken my shift because she was scheduled to work with me! I had to tell Melinda that I couldn't come in...and of course, Jessica didn't go in either so they were completely lacking in Specialty employees.

It turns out that Jessica and I were scheduled to close that night together. Why Jessica took my shift is beyond me. It wasn't my fault...Jessica should have known her schedule, and chosen the shift that she wanted to take of mine, accordingly. It also wasn't my fault that Jessica flaked out on my shift. It became her shift as soon as she agreed to it and Mike changed the schedule around.

The next day, I go into work and find out that I might be Demoted because of what happened. Is this fair? I think not. Rob approached me during the day and asked if I had gotten everything straightened out with Mike over the schedule last week. He apparantly hadn't been told about the Monday Catastrophe. I laughed and said "No it was a bunch of bullshit and now I might be demoted over somebody elses mistakes". I went on to tell him the story, and how Clint had told Mike that he was calling Darren to have me demoted. "Clint said that?!" he asked in disbelief...."Don't worry, I'll talk to him, that's ridiculous".

So hopefully it will work out. But that's just an example of the stupidity I have to deal with.
