So a while back,
Vietnam Veterans Against the War was sent an advance copy of Bill Ehrhart’s new poetry book, The Bodies Beneath the Table, to review for their newspaper. My father was going to review it himself, but then sent it to me instead. This was profoundly wickers, because I’ve been reading Ehrhart’s stuff since high school, and he was a strong influence on me. (
Imagined Therefore Limitless participants might remember
“The Trouble With Poets,” which I read way back at the first poetry picnic.) I had been planning to buy the new book when it came out, and instead I got it a month early and free.
My copy of the newspaper arrived in the mail a few weeks ago, and I just found out today that the whole issue is now online,
including my review, mostly as I wrote it. A few grammatical and punctuation errors seem to have crept in during the editing process, but nothing world-ending, and it’s nice to see it out there.
