Oh god! *snorts*
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains. Never was this truth more plain than during the recent attacks at Netherfield Park, in which a household of eighteen was slaughtered and consumed by a horde of the living dead.
That is an excerpt - the very first paragraph, in fact - from Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, where Seth Grahame-Smith has taken the work of Jane Austen's beloved Pride and Prejudice and added a zombie invasion. His work is melded and tweaked right into the existing text and, from what I hear, rather flawlessly.

Chris just heard about it the other day and was all excited to tell me about it, only to find that it's been on my to-read list for some time now. It's been placed on both of our to-read lists, as he's rather curious himself.

Anyone else that is curious can read the first three chapters here.

The publishing company, Quirk Books, is apparently planning to do more books along these lines - using the public domain to turn classics into something new.
