Bailey and I just got back from a mini vacation to Lake of the Ozarks. We camped at
Lake of the Ozarks State Park and spent our days traipsing around at different attractions there at the lake.
We got in after dark on Friday, so we didn't do anything but set up camp, since we couldn't leave for the lake until after Bailey got home from work that night. Saturday we went through our Sabbath School lesson, we went to
Ha Ha Tonka State Park and visited the sites there. We saw the castle ruins, the natural bridge, the spring, the Devil's Kitchen, and the cave, and walked up and down quite a few trails n the process. It was a lot of fun, though we forgot our big water jug at camp, so we were rather thirsty by the time we were finished. It's also given us some ideas in case we ever decide to play the lottery and somehow win.
Sunday we did the tourist thing and spent the afternoon browsing around at the
shops by
Bagnell Dam. We decided that day that we're a tourist trap's worst nightmare, since we spent a few hours there and all we bought was a couple pieces of chocolate at the candy shop. We also drove across the dam and checked out the scenic overlook up on the hill above it before going back to camp and taking a short swim.
Today we packed up camp and then went on a tour of Ozark Caverns. It was really interesting seeing a natural cave as opposed to the man-made cave I work in all the time. After the cave we went to and drove across the Swinging Bridges before heading for home.
That's how we spent our long weekend. We took lots of pictures, which we'll be uploading to our Flickr account within the next few days for you all to see. I'll post again when they're up. Now we're going to be headed for bed before too long and then back into the normal day-to-day routine tomorrow.
