[Narrative (somewhat THNM)]

Ginta walked away from Hawkins, the young child in tow and still asleep. Now what? He knew what it took to take care of young wolf youkai, sure. Young human children? Were another matter altogether. What did humans eat at this age, anyway?

He mulled over the options. Both young humans and wolves could live off of milk, this much he knew. There was supposedly a young mother in one of the nearby packs who had lost a newborn pup. She would still be able to provide food and might be looking for someone to fill the empty place her pup left. There were a couple of problems with this plan, though. If the female wolf youkai took the child in chances are that she would be extremely possessive and protective (and she would have every right to be since a human child would be at great risk in a youkai tribe where most of the members would be wary of it). That would make Hawkins provision that he occasionally see the child pretty well impossible. It would cause fights and they would be bloody. And if the adoptive mother candidate fully rejected the child... yeah, that could get messy too.

That ruled out all of his youkai options. What about humans? He could ask Aya about how finding orphaned children parents worked in her world. The only problem with that was that, considering the prospective parents would likely be strangers, Hawkins request would again be hard to carry out. He really didn't want the zombie thing pestering him because he couldn't make good on his word.

That left humans in his world which meant... Kaede! The old priestess had a lot of influence in her village and new everyone there. She would know if there was a family that would be willing to take the child in. Since most of the people in the village weren't terribly aware of the strange presences around them anyway that also meant that he could probably work things out so that Hawkins could check in on the kid and watch from a distance every once in a while. With supervision, of course. Ginta headed for the portal that lead to just outside of Kaede's village, considerably more optimistic about the future of the child that was just beginning to stir into wakefulness in his arms.
