I'm back from Ohio with Stuff I Don't Need and bronchitis! Go me!
So the con was actually a lot of fun, even though we didn't get to see most of the people we, you know, went to see.
Jess and I did Team Fortress cosplay Friday and Saturday. Sunday we were just like "fuck this shit!" and walked around in civilian clothes. lol.
So Fred and her friend Ron got into Buffalo on Wednesday night, Jess and I proceeded to Not Sleep that night, giving us about 8 hours of sleep each for the past 72 hours, I believe. Hah we rock.
We caught the bus at 10am and were uncomfortable, and myself sick, for the entirety of the 7 hour bus ride to Columbus. Julie picked up Fred and Ron, Athena myself and Jess. The combination of me fighting off a cold and not sleeping for ages made me pretty sick, and I was out of commission for all of Thursday evening. Fortunately, I felt much better in the morning.
Friday was a good fucking day. I dressed up like my OC Scout because Athena was nice enough to let me borrow a red wig. So I was a ginger girl!Scout. RED, of course. Just. Me in a skirt. ASL:fkjaf. Everyone liked it though. Like. Seriously. I got a ton of compliments and shit. Made me happy.
Jess was a BLU Demoman. Which is a given. Duh. We mostly just wandered around and found other TF2 tards. We made some good acquaintances and potentially a new friend in a RED Heavy.
We went to a panel about What Makes a Villain, and it was fucking AWEsome. Especially considering most of the villains were comic/cartoon-centric as opposed to the queers in most animes. Not that I don't love anime villains, but they're nothing compared to a lot of the psychos in comics and shit. The guy running the panel got a lot of love from me because Scarecrow is one of his favourite villains. So. Yes.
There were a fuckton of awesome costumes, by the way. My favourite by far though, was a pair of lovely gentlemen (who I successfully terrified) dressed as Scarecrow and the Riddler. There was another Scarecrow there as well. And a Batman. I'm so fucking happy with how many there were. Needless to say there were a bunch of Jokers. One of them was a big asshole, but the others were more than pleased to hug me and let me take their pictures. There were also a few Harley Quinns. One of them called me 'puddin' when she hugged me. X3 It made me endlessly happy.
I found a Noface later on in the night and he gave me 'gold' when I asked him for a hug. It was the best ever.
More stuff happened, but I'll elaborate on shit when I do a picture post.
Saturday I went through the horrible task of binding with ace bandages and shit. Which is a goddamn fucking bitch and a half when you have triple D tits. I was an actual Scout that day, and it was freaking awesome. There's video of me attacking SpyCrabs somewhere... I'll work on getting my hands on that.
Jess was still a BLU Demo. XD
We found our Heavy again and wandered around all day with her. We went to the Invader Zim panel, but dealing with all the Zim tards wasn't worth sitting and listening to Rikki talk. As much as I love him, his fans are some of the most idiotic people on the face of the planet.
The TF2 photoshoot was freaking awesome as hell. There were a ton of Engies and Spies. A fair number of Scouts. Three Soldiers, three Demos, three Snipers, and two Pyros. There were NO Medics. Someone actually had to go change into a Medic and they were BLU. Which was fucking awesome, seriously. There was a Saxton Hale there though. Which is kind of brilliant. Mmm.
I'm probably leaving more stuff out whatever.
Sunday, like I said, we just wandered around in civilian clothes. *snerk* That will never stop amusing me.
So, I was on a mission all weekend. To hug every person I came across dressed as the Doctor. I saw 9 of them. I hugged 8 of them. The one the got away will never stop vexing me, even though it was a bad version of the 4th Doctor as a girl. And funnily enough, the only Doctor cosplays I came across were the 4th and the 10th. I am amused to no end. One of them was hella badass though. He had K-9 with him. X3 There was also a Rose with one of them, and a Cyberman. Who I'm sad I didn't get a hug from.
Anyway, Sunday. We went to a Steampunk panel and I feel wonderfully enlightened. My quest to understand them is far from over, but I'm learning now, so I'm happy. Their music is really good. We have a list of shit to download.
There was also an impromptu TF2 panel, since the original one was canceled for no reason. A random staff member decided that she'd run it instead, since so many of us were there for it. So it was a lot of fun. We basically just all got together in a room, briefly discussed the game and actual gameplay, then proceeded to quote characters and Meet The... videos for an hour while making fun of each other. It was great. TF2 tards are my field of bee people. Seriously.
Also, we met Rikki Simmons on accident during the middle of Sunday. We were talking to some of our TF2 friends and happened to stop in front of a random table in Artist's Alley... and as it turned out, it was the table Rikki shared with his wife. So we got autographs from both of them, asked questions about Shutterbox and got answers we did not want, and bought prints from them.
Raaaah, so yeah.
I'll get more detailed on shit when I post pictures, I think.
Oh, and as for the Stuff I Don't Need, I got a Cindaquil plushie and some t-shirts. One of which Jess and I are sharing. It's a Zydrate support group shirt. My other one has a page from the Death Note on it and says "Col. Mustard in the library with a lead pipe." I could not stop laughing.
So that's it about the con for now. I probably won't shut up for a while though.
On a topic non-related to the con, I wrote another installment for my Batman!fic with no name. So that'll be up within the next day or so, I hope.
