Fred was quite sure that Rupert was right and that the girlfriend would be right there. Getting the books before they arrived would keep them from having to deal with both her and anyone else she had there with her as well as the delivery people, whoever they were. She wondered briefly if the people making the delivery would be demonic, and if so if they would be Pylean. If they were, Fred knew some ways to deal with them; otherwise, they'd be playing it by ear.
Once Rupert asked the girl where the library was, Fred glanced at her back for a moment. "It...maybe we should walk this time?" She knew that he liked her wings, and truth be told, she rather did too, but she wasn't sure whether they wouldn't risk someone seeing them. "I just don't want to take the chance that the girlfriend might see us this time. She's got to be lurking around there somewhere."
She glanced back over at the shop. "Should we go back and tell Mister Bedford that none of the rings are right for us? I can probably sneak a peak at his system to see what he's using, and I bet the library will have computers there too that I can use to hack the records."
“That’s sounds perfect,” Giles said as he stood from the table. He was a bit disappointed he wouldn’t see the wings but knew it was safer if they walked to the library. “And I’ll distract Bedford so you can look at his computer, or whatever you need to do.” He helped Fred up and they went back to Bedford’s shop.
When they walked in, Bedford smiled at them and stepped forward. “Back so soon?” he asked, looking at them.
“We decided not to get a ring from here. My grandmother has one that she keeps bothering us to take, and we decided perhaps we should take her up on her offer,” Giles said as he hoped Bedford would believe him since his grandmother had long since died.
“Oh, I understand completely,” Bedford said. “Is there anything else I can help you with?”
“Actually,” Giles said, looking around the store. He saw a display showcasing ancient Egyptian artifacts, “I would love to have more information about those.”
Bedford saw where Giles was looking and smiled. “Of course,” he said. He walked off and Giles looked at Fred before following him.
As Rupert distracted Bedford by getting him to tell him about some artefacts in one of the showcases away from the back of the shop, Fred watched for a moment to make sure they were deep in conversation. Then silently, she slipped into the hallway leading to the back office.
Pausing for a moment, she glanced around to make sure that the girlfriend wasn't there, not wanting to be caught. She couldn't sense anyone around, though, so she slipped into the office. The computer was a laptop sitting on the desk, and she moved to crouch down in front of it, not daring to sit on the chair, just in case.
Quickly, she found out the shop's ordering and tracking software and found that the password and id was set to autofill. Memorizing it, she then closed everything out and hurried out of the room, checking that no one was there. Just as she reached entrance to the shop, she glanced back to see a flash of red hair as someone came down the steps from upstairs and headed back into the office.
That had to be the "girlfriend" - the Ar'vek demon. Fred could practically feel the evil rolling off her, even though she hadn't noticed her. They definitely had to stop her.
Walking up behind Giles, she got his attention and signalled that she had gotten the information and was ready to go.
