Fred was about to protest that he didn't need to turn on the fire for her, but he was already across the room and bending over it. She watched him for a moment, her hand covering her heart as she held her cardigan together. She could feel it pounding and felt so confused.
It didn't seem that long ago that she had just been feeling out the start of a relationship with Wesley, but that had been cut down before it had even had a chance to get off the ground, and now she was here with Rupert Giles, watching him and feeling...she wasn't sure. He was handsome and intelligent, and despite the bad start they had gotten off to, she found she really liked him. She could tell he was a good man.
She could sense the reaction she was causing in him as well, though, and was scared that both of them were getting into something that neither of them had any control over. She was...an Angel, apparently, and he was her charge, and she wasn't sure if these sort of feelings would even be allowed. Besides, that she wasn't even sure what she was feeling, especially feeling like she had lost Wesley so recently. She just didn't know what to do.
"I'm--really, I'm fine," she told him, wanting to put her hand on his arm but not sure that would be a very good idea, all things considered. "It's--I'd be glad to talk to you actually - I mean if you want to - since I don't seem to be very tired at the moment, but if you need to get some sleep, I understand."
