.. you want it all but you can't have it, it's in your face but you can't grab it.
So yesterday I ended up having to stay at work later than expected because both Sharon and Ashly called off. Sharon just didn't want to work I'm sure, and wanted a four day weekend, while Ashly had fractured the knuckles in her hand somehow ?? Not sure what's going on there. Maybe she punched a wall ? But yeah, I got one of Gene's papers totally finished during my shift. After work, since Gene stopped off to help an old man with a flat tire, and then went home to play video games to wind down, Dad & I drove out to Fatima Shrine, looking for a gift for Toby's baptism. (: I couldn't decide between a book, a picture frame, or a stuffed guardian angel bear. Dad ended up choosing the frame, so I just went with it, since they were about to close. We wandered around out by the water, looking for fish and frogs, and seeing a lot of dragonflies too. By the time we headed home, Mom was just about out of her hair appointment (which I LOVE what Deens did to her hair this time, though she is not a huge fan) and Gene was just about over, so we could all head to Meagan & Jack's for dinner.
We got there a little late then we should have, because I made Gene & Mom & Dad test out my red beet eggs, after three days of sitting and soaking and absorbing ! (: Mom still doesn't like them (not a fan of beets), not sure what Dad thought, but Gene thought they were great !! I personally think they needed to be a bit sweeter, but the weird thing is, the recipe I was originally going off of only called for a little bit of sugar, but I added much more after reviewing other versions of the recipe. A lot of recipes called for various kinds of vinegar too. I guess it's just a personal preference kind of thing. But not bad for my first batch ! And they are pretty & pink too !! Gene thinks I might like them better if I let them sit longer, which maybe.
Anyways .. we got to Meagan's and she had made an AMAZING dinner of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. (: (: (: It was SO YUMMY. (We had stopped at DiCamillo's first to pick up a dessert since Meagan didn't let me know til like 5:15 that she wanted us to make/bring something. Mom & Dad picked up some kind of Bavarian cake log -- like a giant Swiss Cake, and Gene bought a box of pure, unprocessed honeycomb, lol !) Anyways, after dinner, we all played Things, as per Meagan's request. Not sure if I like that game sometimes. I think it depends on the people you're playing it with, and the categories you get. (But LOL at "lead poisoning" hahaha) After the game, we busted out some desserts, the honeycomb was delicious, but the comb itself was kind of weird to chew/swallow ? The cake log thing wasn't my cup of tea, but whatevs. I shouldn't even have ate it. Since we didn't end up going on a run. ): We hung around for a little bit, playing with Samuel, and watching some short clips that were extras on the Up Blu-ray. They were SO cute. (: I love that dog, Sammy kind of reminds me of him. (:
We left there around 9ish, and Gene & I were both exhausted, so I knew I would sleep well. I guess Gene and I weren't paying attention, because Dad had wanted his help getting the stove out of the basement when we got home, but Gene left immediately upon arriving, so he could get to bed. So this means Mom & Dad did it on their own, probably hurting theirselves, and definitely damaging some of the Oriental antiques (not to mention one from my Grandmother's house, a beautiful, unique, fabric picture) so there was a lot of yelling going on. Before Gene left, we had a minor scuffle about today. I told hiim Jamie & Jason want to meet up, which he said was fine as long as they would come over, because he is not going anywhere. I mean, I got 99% of his homework done by myself this week so we could have some free time and enjoy ourselves (all he has left is his project for TQM which if I could do without him, I would !) and I'm totally cool with chilling at home, having dinner, watching a movie, whatevs, but wonder if they had something else in mind ?? Wonder if they wanted to hang out and DO something ?? Idk, we'll see I guess. I guess I could hang out alone, but I know for a fact Jamie wants Jason to meet Gene, which is why we didn't hang out any of the nights he worked late, though I was perfectly capable of hanging out then. I know Gene wants to do berry picking sometime, and I know we should go soon because a) we're busy next week and b) all this rain must've made them ripen, and we don't want them to go to the birds !! We also have to finish that project before midnight tomorrow, but since I am off on Sunday, maybe I can sleep over and we can stay up and work on it. Mom wants me to make breakfast for everyone, since I read on Teffy's FB about "Funfetti pancakes" we are now all dying to try them, LOL !! And they sound super easy. I get so excited about cooking anymore, lol. I am so domesticated haha. We have to catch up on Futurama sometime too, but I still can't find the one episode !! Maybe I will just buy it off Amazon. /: I have to renew my registration sometime soon too, probably will put that on my card and just get it done online if it's less hassle. Which means my inspection is going to be up this month too. UGH. So many expenses, lol. I've been looking into alternative hotels for Dan & Steph's wedding, since the one they have a block at is so expensive, and Willow Grove is closed, leaving the closest military base in Jersey (about an hour away) and I found a bed & breakfast even that looks very nice (have always wanted to stay at one, how romantic !!!) and Gene even said we might do it !! It's still kind of pricy, but closer I think, and definitely nicer. Full breakfast and everything. I just don't think it would be as nice if his parents and Mo decided to follow us to wherever we end up staying (less of a romantic getaway). But I've gotta book soon, things fill up fast in summer !!
Anyways, gonna get back to work I guess, don't want to work til 3 today, ughh. It's a 107th three day drill this weekend. Tomorrow I am only scheduled til 2 now, so I have to see if Chuck & Melanie still need our help. I think they want Gene to come over early, but I want to make sure he gets the lilies for me !!! Saw beautiful tiger lilies at Fatima yesterday !! Want lilies of all kinds someday. (:
