EUGENE IS BACK !!! ♥
So it has been a few days since my last update ! Guess I am just enjoying Gene being home, and relaxing with him. (: Sunday I didn't do too much, just lots of laundry and housework at Gene's. Monday morning was incredibly stressful, Gene's ETA and flight details kept changing, so I started freaking out about my interview. At least I got a workout in to take the edge off. Ended up moving it up to 1:45 PM because Gene's flight went from 10 AM, to 1 PM, to 2 PM (my interview was at 2:15 originally) and then ultimately they rerouted to Buffalo Airport landing around 2:30 and busing back to the base around 3. There was a big turn out to welcome the airmen, and it was very heartfelt. My sis came too (and took plenty of pictures) and I kept harassing Jack & Marty Viggato all day for updates, LOL. It was SO GOOD to see him and run into his arms to hug him. (: (: We stuck around on base for a while, while we waited for his luggage to arrive. It seemed like it took FOREVER, when all we wanted to do was get home to relax. Anyways .. the whole fam ended up going out to Red Lobster for dinner to celebrate. Gene brought back some cool presents for everyone !! He made a bunch of bracelets out of parachute cord (550 cord) which were REALLY cool, he was having fun learning different knots over there to waste some time. (: He gave me one really cool one but it was too big on me, so we gave it to Mom. He bought me a cartouche bracelet, an arabic cartouche necklace (silver & 18k gold), and a beautiful lapis lazuli necklace ! HE TRICKED ME !! He told me he couldn't find it over there !! But apparently, it was really hard to find. He bought a hookah to display at the house, some cool rugs, one silk rug for Dad, plus a patch that US hockey supports the troops (for his hockey bag), a weird little folding pen, and a wooden pill box. He bought Mom and his Mom and all his sisters cartouches. He bought Meagan a knife like she wanted, and she loved it ! I am glad to see them getting along. He bought Jack a shirt/hat combo which was pretty cool. He flew a flag over Afghanistan for Dad which was pretty cool !! Everyone wants one now, LOL !! I can't even remember everything else right now !!
Tuesday, he had to inprocess, so I chilled at home. He, Meagan, and I ended up going to Subway for lunch, and then I went back with him to the base to finish his inprocessing that took FOREVER but at least now we know how much leave he has and everything. I ended up going grocery shopping solo while he took a nap (he has been so tired and has been getting stomach aches here and there too since he's been back). I made BBQ chicken quesadillas for dinner, with caramelized onions (YUM !!) Mom & Dad came over and we caught up on Monday night's House, which was CRAZY. There are rumors next season is the last season, and they are moving it to a new time slot. Also Cuddy is leaving the show. It is going to be a weird one. Next week is the season finale !! Gotta get Gene caught up, can't wait for him to see the cannibal one LOLOL !! Dad & I showed Gene some of the JBLZE show he missed, and then they left, and we got ready for bed, me prepping our breakfast for the morning (it had to soak overnight).
SO yesterday morning, I made baked almond french toast for breakfast, topped with fresh raspberries and maple syrup ! (: It was yummy ! I think I would've liked a raspberry reduction better though. Mom said to serve it with whipped cream, and the recipe said ice cream, but I didn't want it to be too dessert-y. I got a call back about my interview, I got the job !! Which means a lot of changes coming up, lots to figure out and talk about, because I am supposed to start there on the 31st (and I am currently scheduled to work on base that day ..) YIKES. The job is a 10 month job (like Dad's) which means no working summers, 10 paid holidays, starting at $12.40/hour on probation. Lots of questions to ask next week when I go in to sign the contract. I guess I will stay working at the Lodge in the summers until I figure out if I like this new job and what to do from here. (: I think it is like 8-4 M-F so that will be nice. Gene & I watched Easy A yesterday and then went for a run around Hyde Park. It was nice to run with him, but I died out pretty quickly at the end of the first two miles, because I was running faster than usual, trying to keep pace with him I guess ? Even though I was the pacer. Idk. Better luck next time I guess ! Still nice to run with him. I feel like he doesn't like it though, because it holds him back. Idk. We had dinner at my parents and then spent a few hours grocery shopping. Came home & watched Megamind, and then went to bed, both of us tired, because he keeps going to bed late & waking up SUPER early like WTF LOL !! He didn't get up til like 11:30 our time when he was overseas !! d:
We have to figure out when we are heading down to his parents' house this weekend. I want to be back by Monday for the House finale and to sign the contract for the school district. Plus, Wednesday starts summer volleyball, and Thursday I go back to work for a few days. He is on leave til the 31st. So I only work 3 of the days he has off. Maybe now I will have leverage at the Lodge. I will work drills still for them, but not all weekends, because I don't want to work 7 days a week all the time. Need to figure out what to do with all my leave because I will surely have to give up my full time slot. So much to think about. Not sure what the plan is for today yet, he has been watching Full Metal Alchemist all morning. Just relaxing still. (: Nice to have him back. Been staying here all week, which has been good and bad. Can't breathe that well at night lately (have a cold ?) and haven't been sleeping well, he has my hours all messed up. Plus I miss snuggling my doggies. Miss hanging with my parents who were like my BFFs while he was gone (not that they aren't always my BFFs, but I guess even more so while he was away). I wanted to spend more time with them before we head to PA. Been wearing a lot of my cute new clothes !! hehe Monday I wore that purple off the shoulder top with the concho belt, Tuesday was the green military henley from Old Navy, and yesterday was the cute hippie-ish top with the vest. (:
Well guess I better get going .. Gene gets annoyed by my typing, LOL. Maybe I can convince him to watch a movie with me now, or go have lunch with Dad in a little bit. Can't wait to get started on all our new workout routines together too. Just wish it would stop raining already !!
