Mind is blown with the latest developments of Arrow and Agents of Shield. Our favorite comic book adaptations could not be so different in approach and yet both get to be satisfying.
Arrow
I knew Moira was going to die sooner or later and my bet was the season 1 finale and when that didn't happen I began to think that maybe it would happen at the season 2 finale. But this was very unexpected. She was a strong but flawed character and I couldn't help but like her despite all of her mysteries, secrets and all the mindf**k she gave her children. The fact that she would die for them makes it the perfect ending for her journey and will drive both Oliver and Thea for the rest of the season and the next one.
Slade is turning out to be one hell of a villain and I really hope he doesn't die anytime soon. Things are too good to waste with a death. I'm also really hoping this cure doesn't happen because that would be such a cheap way out. I hope Roy continues to struggle with his condition until he finally finds a way to keep it under some kind of control but never far under the surface. I also would love if they stopped making dozens of new supervillains by simply injecting them with the drug. It's also way too easy.
On the possible child Oliver may have somewhere in the world, could this be
Connor Hawke? The story is too similar to ignore. I love the fact that Moira died without telling so many of her secrets, this being one of them. Who knows what else she took to the grave?
All in all, the writers are making a lot of bold decisions plot-wise and so far none of them has let me down. If they keep this up and are able to actually kepp all balls in the air without dropping any and ruining an acceptable resolution, I'll be happy.
There is an interesting interview with Producer Andrew Kreisberg
here.
Agents of Shield
I'm loving the direction the show is taking. Ward's turn was totally unexpected for me and it looks like he really is all in, which makes me very happy. The only thing that could make him falter a little bit is Skye. BTW, also I also loved how she was able to keep it together to try to figure out what Ward wanted.
My slight gripe with the show was that I saw a lot of potential in all characters but everything moved slowly in their development and made them look superficial. Now, they are all getting something juicy to focus on, all have different personal storylines to follow and finally look like real fleshed out characters that I can devote to and love. From May going off with her mom (!), to FitzSimmons geting a little bit of tension, Coulson shedding some light on the mysterious cellist and even the new guy mentioning being a grandson of one of the Howling Commandos, I'm really satisfied.
Also, a TARDIS mention!
