Supernatural 6.15 - The French Mistake

I've seen a lot of mixed reviews for this episode, which is kind of expected. I liked it a lot, but it's hard to find an episode of any of my favorite shows that I don't like. I'm pretty easy to please. I'll start with a non-spoilery review.

This episode was more of a parody than a meta. I've seen people taking it far too seriously and hating it because of that. People, it's just an episode. It's a parody, it is NOT reality. So much so that they got actors to play pretty much everyone from behind the scenes rather than have the real guys there. Really, some people need to figure out the difference between what's real and what's fiction and stopping saying s*** like that this ep means the series will be cancelled soon and that things are going bad in the studio.

That said, I found this episode to be very entertaining and funny. I LOL-ed in many parts. It was pretty easy to figure out most parodies and exaggerations. There were some fun references meant exclusively for the fans, including plenty of Misha Collins tweets, some of which that appeared in the actor's own twitter account this morning. Gotta love him.

I loved that they wrapped everything into the arc of the season and I really hope we'll get to see more of this soon. This seems to be a big aspect of it, but we only managed to get a few glimpses so far.

I'm loving Balthazar more and more with each episode. I'm still confused with this whole Angel civil war though.

I didn't really like when they killed Misha, but when they ended up killing everyone on set and I just laughed, especially with the way they made Kripke go. I'm not very happy with the fact that more innocent people were killed by the angels but I figure we're not supposed to like angels.

Another part that I liked is that this was a way of showing Dean that his life isn't so bad. That it could be worse. Instead of a hunter he could have been an actor pretending to be one, lol. And yeah, Sam and Dean would turn up to be terrible as Jensen and Jared, especially in a universe in which they don't speak to each other. I felt that this was a way of showing people that there really are shows out there in which the leads hate each other even though they manage to play alongside and pretend everything is fine before the cameras. SPN showed that it really isn't the case with J2, at least in our universe.

I wonder where the JJs were while Dean and Sam were there. Did they come back after Sam and Dean returned to their universe? If so, what the hell will they think after they find out what happened in their absence?

I need to watch it again to form more coherent thoughts and remember the parts I left out. Sorry if this doesn't make any sense. I'm too tired and worked too much today.

BTW, I rented Friday The 13th with Jared Padalecki. I never watched any Friday 13th movies before. *wonders what the Winchesters would find of it*

squee, spn
