(no subject)
So i got in a pretty serious car accident on thursday...
I was driving on route 4 during the bad thunder/rain/wind storm we had on thursday when i see that a 25 inch in diameter pine tree start to fall, i think lightning hit it earlier in the day and with the wind and everything this tree just had it.... so from about 50 feet away maybe a little less, i slam on the breaks and came smashing head on into the tree. I was only doing about 50 in a 55 mph zone. But it was too late and the tree hit the ground hard and then bounced a little. When i was taken into the ambulance.. the EMT told me if it happened any differently, like if the tree were to fall 3 seconds later then it would of taken the top of the car and i would be dead... soooooo that kind of hit home pretty hard.. and when i finally got to concord hospital all the nurses and the PA's were telling me i was lucky to be alive. I managed to walk away from it with a puncture wound to the arm (from a glass bottle that was in the car that had shattered), a bruised cheek bone, random cuts and scratches up both arms and legs, and a sprained wrist. the really bittersweet thing about the accident is that i wasnt in my car.. i was in melanies extra car that nobody in her family used, my car is in the shop and her parents were nice enough to let me use the car. FORTUNATELY, with insurance and everything they are going to get soooo much more money from the accident than they would if they had just sold it. It sucks really bad and i feel horrible about doing that to the car, or having that done to her car, but its nice to know they will get a couple grand instead of about 800 because there was NOTHING i could of done to prevent the accident from happening... there isnt much you can do when your that close and a massive tree falls in front of you.
