Why Am I so Popular with the Armenians?

Something's up and it's beginning to smell like week old fish left in the sun. First, I got this friend request last week: armgev. I looked at his user profile, and didn't think much about this. After all, I'm a member of cathodefollower where there are a lot of Russian and Eastern European members. I figured he added me to his f-list because of that.

Now, there's another one: armbloger. This damn journal was created less than an hour ago, as of this writing. There is no way in hell he could have known about cathodefollower, or about the posts I made about audio design, or anything else for that matter.

Have you out there received these kinds of friend requests? I wonder if this has anything to do with the bullshit that's been coming from that part of the world: the spam attacks on forums. Just yesterday I got an e-mail notice of a PM from someone on the Digital Dive Forums claiming my system was spamming the forums and would I be so good as to go to some web site to have the system tested and cleaned. Here's the result of that:

I don't have a "C:" drive; I have none of those directories. Despite the "official" looking PM that claimed it had been sent by the admin of the forum, this PM came from an account that had just been set up just a few hours prior to my getting the PM notification. I'm sure that everyone on that forum got this PM, and if they went to that website with a Win-d'ohs system, they have a big problem today. Click on any icon on that web page, and it tries to install yet another WinVirus™. Wait too long thinking about it and it tries to install anyway.

internet_bullshit, wtf
