Well, all we really have is his word that atheists have done these things, don't we? I suspect that this is simply another case of projection (there seems to be a lot of that here). It's usually the TrueBelievers™ who throw hissy fits when you challenge their beliefs. Fortunately these days that's limited to screaming insults and posting bullshit on a weblog. They can't burn you at the stake anymore. (Although they might key your car if your bumper's sporting a "Darwin" fish or a pro-choice sticker.)
