August Furmeet
Just got back from the latest furmeet/picnic at a nice local park. This is the same park used for other furmeets, where bald eagles live. Didn't get to see any, but there were red tailed hawks, as opposed to the more common broad winged hawks. This was a "pup gear" meet, and so a half dozen in these leather dog masks. I wore my fox fursuit instead, and was one of two other fursuiters not in pup gear.
We had a photoshoot, with just the puppers, and another for everyone else. There was the usual picnic fare: 'dogs and burgers done over charcoal, chicken tacos with salsa and celantro/lime sauce, white cheese and fresh limes. Very good, as was everything else. One guest brought these spam sushi's: fried spam with sticky rice and wrapped in seaweed, like regular sushi that I thought was pretty good, but which you'd either love or hate.
Unforch, there weren't any lawn games, and you had the usual contingent sitting there in the shelter playing games on phones. There was also a card game, Red Flags that was all about arranging really horrible dates that was fun to play. Met up with the attendees of other area furmeets as well. There were a few unfamiliar faces. I would've liked to play some lawn games.
Also met up with some AnthrOhio vets. "Thank you for attending AnthrOhio 2024! We had a wonderful record-breaking year with over 50% growth compared to last year!" -- they confirmed what I suspected all along. These attendance figures were exaggerated, including subscriptions and not just those physically present. A lot of purebloods have given up on AnthrOhio over their fucked up shit-shot requirements for the past two AnthrOhios. They decided to go to other furcons: the Indy Furcon, Anthrcon, Midwest Fur Fest, and Mephit Furmeet.
At least the damn weather decided to co-operate. The day started out looking none too good, and it rained all night, last night.
